I am praying he doesn't!!!! How can a man who has cheated and disgraced the American past time be put into the same class with men who did it naturally??? Its not fair. Did the Babe take steroids.....no! And to think we still let Barry play and Pete Rose will never see the Hall of Fame?.....unbelievable!

He is going to do it.. It's just a matter of time. Let's just hope there is a * by his name when he does.

Pete Rose will eventually be let into the hall of fame. There getting closer every year. He most definatly deserves to be in, but he'll never be able to coach or be involved in the game again. This deal with Bonds is one of the worst things to happen to baseball since the Black Socks scandal. The Babe is the most recognized figure in baseball and now this piece of $hit is going to pass him. What a shame. Aleast he'll never catch Hank.

I totally agree with you, A Man who cheated should not make the Hall of Fame, Its like if Wayne Gretzky paid the other goailes to let in every shot he threw at them.

I think it's going to be a long time before pete gets into the hall of fame. The black sox scandal was in 1919 and Joe Jackson still isn't in the hall of fame and i think he should be in there too. In a way Joe Jackson wasn't a part of the scandal because if you look at the stats he had a great average, the most hits, and the only homerun of the series. But he still agreed to the money I guess. I also don't think Barry should be allowed to be passing all these greats that did it without the help of roids.

Ruth did it with Hot Dogs and Beer, Aaron did it with class, and Bonds will do it with BALCO. :(

Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame without question. The two cannot be compared, while Rose broke the law and rules of the game he did nothing that affected his play on the field. If Bond is guilty of what he is alledged to have done then it is for the baseball fathers to decide.
I have a hard time comparing icons from different era's of the game. The game as a whole is so much different now as opposed to Ruth's era. The pitching quality has been watered down due to expansion, #1 reason hitting as a whole is up. The players are also much better athletes across the board as that era too.

Troy, great point. Forgot to think about that. The fields are smaller, the pitching is worse, and the athletes are better. You must have done some research.:)

No official research, just experience from my years of being a MLB fan.
Another major difference is the size of the strike zone, not the one in the books but the actual called strike zone. In the golden days of old the high stike was called consistantly and the hitters weren't given the inside part of the plate on a platter. Media obviously wasn't then what it is now, stars of those days weren't the alter boys many think, sportswriters protected the players - especially the stars - and didn't mention or covered up many things that would be headlines today.

Easy squirt, I've got bands older than you, lol.
The good old days, look up the Big Red Machine of the 70's. That was an awesome team, several hall of famers or should be hall of famers. Good pitching, great defense, timely hitting - baseball the way it was meant to be played.

Squirt!! I thought we were hunting buddies. Troy, do you remember the Yankees from the early 60's. Do you remember Joe Pepeton 1st base, Bobby Richardson 2nd base, Tony Kuback SS, Cleet Boyer 3rd, Whitey Ford Pitcher, The catcher Elston Howard and Yogie Berra, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. They were a team from the good old days. Probably the best dynasty in the Yankee or baseball history!!!!:D

The 60's???? How old do you think I am???? Man, thats pretty rough, lol. I know of that Yankee club, that was just a little before my memory. Yankee teams that I first recall was, around the horn - Chris Chambliss, Willie Randolph, Bucky Dent, Craig Nettles, Lou Pinella, Micky Rivers, Bobby Mercer and Thurman Munson. Sparky Lyle was the closer before the term was cool, Ron Guidry was just a pup starting pitcher, Mike Torrez had a year or two in there rotation. Very good team.
Best team of all time is such an argueable topic. Hard to compare eras like we've said. If I had to pick one, as a team, it would be the mid 1970's Reds. Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, Davey Concepcion, Pete Rose, George Foster, Cesar Geronimo, Ken Griffey (before the Junior), best catcher of all time Johnny Bench. They had some great pitching too, Don Gullett, Tom Seaver, Dave Nolan, Pat Zachary, Rawley Eastwick, Pedro Bourbon, others I'm not thinking of.
Unfortunately I paid far too much attention to baseball growing up, heads clogged with baseball junk rather than school junk.

Troy, thats an awesome team in all. But the best team ever is the 1998 New York Yankees. The team won 120+ games and the world series. I only remember some of the team and I think it was Tino Martinez, Scott Broshus, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, David Wells, and Roger Clemens thats all I can remember though. Great team.
