I live in Grand Island, NE. I shoot at the amazing Heartland Public Shooting Park. It has 4 trap fields and 4 combination fields. There is a Sporting Clays range and the club is working on a rifle range. The rifle will have 12 or 13 short ranges and a 600 yard range.
What kind of gun do you shoot. What shell do you shoot, if it is factory or reloaded, and what is your best score out of 100.
I shoot a Beretta 391 teknys gold trap with a 32" barrel. I shoot a factory shell by Remington that is 1oz 1290ft/sec on the 16s and on the handicap I shoot another factory Remington load that is 1 1/8 1200ft/sec. My best score out of 100 is 100 straight ( got lucky), that was on the 16s. My best score on handicap is 96/100.

I don't shoot trap but I do shoot sporting clays at Rice Creek Hunting Preserve near Little Falls, MN. The best I have ever done is 49 out of 50 targets on the A or easy course. The medium or B course has yeilded only a 47 out of 50 for a high score. Both were shot last year. I use a dukes mixture of shells. For a while I used nothing but Winchester Super Sport AA's 1 1/8 1300 FPS. I have also used and like Remington Nitro Gold int he same load. I am currently using winchesters Super W load at 1 1/8 1200 FPS. These are cheaper by about a dollar and shoot very well. As for a gun I use my trusty 870 pump with a variety of chokes.

Ryan, thats impressive. Have you been to the Grand in Ohio? I'm excited for the new location this year, I hear they have bass ponds for us to fish. Anyways, I shoot a citori special trap. I reload my own shells, remington nitros with a 1 1/8 oz and 7 1/2 or 8 shot. Its a pretty fast load, shoots around 1350 fps. My best score out of 100 is 99. I missed the first bird and ran the rest  I went out and shot one more to break my 100 straight, to bad it had to be done that way though.

Trap is a great sport that I shoot Little of, I usally shoot sporting clays.
A little tip I would recomend is try shooting a lighter load An 1oz instead of 1 1/8 The reason is, is you are young and over time those heavy loads will develope a flich. If trap is all you shoot look at heavy handicap loads in 1oz.
Just a tip, You can also invest into a recoil system
Hope this helps, Just a thought.

A 49 with an 870 pump, thats pretty impressive. I would like to shoot with you sometime. Why don't you come down to Bestes Sporting Clays in Sauk Centre and shoot with us.

I shoot a Beretta AL391 Teknys 20ga. 28" bbls. I shoot a Comp-N-Choke (.000) in it. Skeet in sporting clays are my main thing, but our club also has a trap field.
I currently shoot a Fiochi 20ga. load. 3 drams #8's for trap.
Shoot PMC brand (same load as above) for skeet. Best score 100/100 20ga.
Shoot them PMC's in 8's and 7's for sporting clays. Best score on my home course is 87/100 20ga. On the A course (harder one)
I really enjoy shooting sporting clays. With a cart it is $33 at my home course. and $15 (due to age) at my favorite course, but it's about 1.5 hours away.
In case you're wondering, I find the 20 much more pleasant to shoot. I can swing it better, and it is a nice little gun with the 28" barrels. When I first mounted it, I knew I had to have one. That 20 is killer in the dove field with some 1oz. loads, but yes, I still shoot a 12 for waterfowl and turkey.

I mostly shoot five stand and regular sporting clays. My gun is a Winchester 101 with 28 inch barrels. Also, I use a 7/8 oz. load for practice. My highest score is near the upper 80's, I think a 87/100. Not to bad for the course that we have here, I shoot at a place called Grouse Ridge. Last year I attended the Champs Camp in San Antonio, Texas. It was a great camp, I suggest it to anyone who shoots sporting clays. You can find out more about it on NSCA's website.

I'd say your trap score is even more impressive. Like I said, skeet is my main thing.
Do yall have any traditions for your first straight 25??? Our tradition is to shoot the hat you have on. If you don't have on a hat then it's your shirt. Everybody that was shooting that round puts 1 shell in. You throw your object from behind a concrete wall, and they shoot it. Kind of like a token to carry with you. I have it hanging up in my room.
This used to be my favorite hat. :D :D

I used to shoot competition trap a ton. I quit around 2002, after I started shooting sporting clays. I had several guns of choice, my favorite being a tricked out 870 Wingmaster. I shot at the Grand Nationals in 1998 and 1999. We were runner up team in 1999. We also took 2nd in state that year. We had a very good squad the stuck together over the years and did very well. We won many Federation titles. Speaking of the Grand, is it still in Vandalia?

I used to shoot a lot of trap when I was younger. I mostly shot handicap and ran 125 straight and 149 out of 150. Back then I was shooting a Winchester 101 Trap and Winchester AA's. I gave it up for a number of years and now just casually shoot some sporting clays, trap or skeet. Maybe a round or two a summer. In sporting clays I can hang in there with scores in the mid 80's to mid 90's with the 12 and before I sold the 28 I was usually around 75ish. I just do not have the time to get out there more often.

I dabble a little in skeet and sporting clays. It is a great way to stay in tune in the off season. This year I am not doing league as I don't have the time to commit to it.
Does anyone shoot duck towers at all?
For anyone in the metro area, Metro Gun Club is quite fun.

I love to shoot any game that involves a clay target and a shotgun...trap, skeet, 5 stand, clays, money games, whatever. Shot 3 years on the shotgun team in college which was a great experience! I got to see some of the best young shooters in the states. I've shot at a number of clubs throughout MO, IL, and even San Antonio. Most of the shooting is done at Pin Oak Hill in northern MO. They offer a great place to shoot along with an excellent atmosphere as well as offering some top notch deer and turkey hunts.
Most of my shooting is done with a Browning 425 with 32" barrels. It's a little flat for trap but works great for all other games. Can't seem to put it all together to get the straight (100) but have shot 99's in trap and skeet. Also have a set of 28ga tubes which makes skeet really fun.
It's a great way to pass the offseason...I just wish I had more time to do it.

I use a Lujtic Mono T 32 in. barrel, along with Remingotn Nitro 27's, I got a 100 out of 100, well 101 out of 100 if you count the practice shot !!! I thought I would end up with 50 out of 100, but I kept saying to myself "I'll hit this one" and lucky enough I did !!

I've run 25 straight at the trap range on various occasions with Winchester Model 12's-12 ga., Winchester Super X Model 1-12 ga., Browning Auto 5-12 ga., Browning Gold Hunter-12 ga., and Benelli SBEII-12 ga., all guns are full bored or full /screw-in choke. All at the 16 yard position. If any of you are running 50 to 100 with any consistancey, you might think about the Olympic message board, could be a more appropriate site for you...:D

I set up a range on the property next door in the summer, we get all sorts of crazy angles and we shoot out of our blinds and stuff occasionally to get us ready for hunting. I enjoy range shooting but it costs money and it is always fun to improvise!

I just started shooting trap, skeet, and sporting clays. I came to college and found the trapshooting club. I've really gotten into. I just recently bought a teknys gold trap model. I shot two rounds through it before i bought it and shot it good. but as soon as i paid for it i shot my very first 25 straight. Pretty sweet. I'm attending k-state university and we have a couple of teams from the club go to shoots. I'm really looking forward to traveling and seeing all of the neat ranges.
One more thing, i have some raffle tickets for some awesome guns if anyone is interested. they are $5 each of $20 for 5.
Guns Include:
1.benelli legacy 12ga. auto
2.remington 700 S/S 7mm mag
3.benelli nova 12 ga. pump
4.CZ 17hmr
5.savage 22lr
6.mec 9000 reloader.
All the money goes towards traveling and entry fees for the team.
