They look like Mallards to me. Pretty hard to call them a copy in my opinion. Similiar look but don't all decoys look similiar?
Maybe I am wrong on this one, but these are no where near the copies that were being made by others. (At least they didn't just remold GHG's and make there own decoys)

I think C/L did a very nice job on those. Lets just see if their paint holds up.
From what I've read....they were suppose to have changed their primer and paints....but if the plastic is still the same ole stuff......will it still not chip, crack, and peel???

I bought some carrylites 2 years ago and after 2 hunts they looked like the were anchient. Almost all the paint was chipped off of them and some had cracked keels. After that i bought some greenhead gear and they still look like the day i bought them. We will have to see if their paint holds up on their new decoys.

It is hard to tell if they are copies from the photo or not. Who knows.
My question from the link is how long will they continue to sell GHG L/S mallards?
FYI - we are not the ones making Redhead decoys anymore. All that went away two years ago.
Thanks,
Christian Curtis

It really is a pain in the butt...all of this decoy copying but I have one statement...
If you want to know who all of these manufacturers think make the best decoy...you only have to look at the decoy they are copying.

Who did Avery copy when they came out with their decoys?? Comon guys. Any company can say they were copied by someone else. You are all trying to copy mother nature, right?? Why bash other companies for "copying" what you have. They are all mallard decoys based on a real mallard. I know how much the guys from Avery hate it when someone says Avery copied DSD or some other decoy company. The decoy bashing gets worn out real fast on all the message boards I visit. Let it go and use what you want to, right?

I can honestly say that Redhead/ Basspro has lost a lot of my business. There was not ONE decoy in that catalog that I am even remotely interested in.

Ryan,
These frustrated men are referring to the fact that these companies have used our molded decoys to create their decoys. Avery has never copied anyone or anything so back it way up before you say something you can't take back. Now, do you want to re-think your lecture?
We do not make it a habit to complain and bitch about the pathetic scum we are forced to compete against, and we will stop this thread immediately because I do not want it to appear we are giving these "manufacturers" any credit.
All copiers are being dealt with using appropriate legal means. The misconception that copying cannot and will not be stopped is wrong as these companies will all find out very soon.

No I don't. I never stated Avery "copied" someone else. I stated Avery doesn't like it when they are accused of that. There is a difference. Avery, like "most" decoy companys are trying to imitate real live birds. Period. If thats not the case, what are they trying to do?

I'm sorry to hear that. That quote made me lose a little respect for you. It just seems a little childish comming from someone in your posistion. I work in sales and I know all about competition. You have a lot of young readers on this site. Is this the attitude you want your youth field staff to promote. If not, I suggest you change yours.

Thats none of my business, but I hope it gets straightened out.
By the way, I don't go out of my way to bash Avery or their products like a lot of people on these waterfowl websites do. I own and use Avery products and will continue to do so until someone gives me a reason not to. The main reason for my original post is plain and simple. I and a lot of others are tired of all the decoy bashing on these waterfowl websites. People just need to use whatever works for them or whatever they can afford to use. End of story.

Ryan- Its unfortunate that people don't know the whole story on some of this stuff, and to what extent, and just what HAS been copied. I think if people knew, which in time they will, they would totally understand why we get frustrated and take things personally.
Are you coming down to Rochester? If so, stop by. I would like to meet you. I do some hunting up in your neck of the woods.
