View Full Version : What's the deal with GHG's website?

For a company that puts so much time and energy into areas such as customer feedback, new product development, and decoy realism, it's hard to stomach the GHG website!
Is it me or has it not changed in about 3 years?
I talk to people about decoys. I mention GHG. They go to the website and they see Avery's 2003 lineup. No FFD's, no Snows and Blues, no Full Body Mallards, etc....
Basically none of your best products are on that site. Why no updates?
Just my rant for the day! :)

They have a new one made and are putting the finishing touches on it and editing parts of it. It will be very soon I think and hope. :)

Guys,
Nobody said anything about the finishing touches. We are in a proof reading phase and judging by the amount of mistakes we are finding, it will take a while to fix it.
Thanks,

Guys, this is a huge project. Not only are we combining 2 websites into one, but there are also a lot of new products and sections on the new site. I think everyone will really like the new site once it us up. Give us some patience and you guys will be happy with the results.

I have a better question. What is the deal with the admin on this site? I don't know if it is Tom or what, but I tried to defend a guy who asked about the new website and how it was taking so long. He is right. We have been waiting since spring and hey, it might take long, I understand, but please tell us why and not "dance around the subject" like another member said. Then Tom said to him to "be very careful". I came back with this, "Why? There was a date said and it was passed by and he is asking why. Sounds like a normal response to me." In fact, the thread is on the front page of the forum if any would like to take a look. Well, I got the hammer for that. Every page takes over a minute to load. Not that I care, because I can wait while it loads and do something else. Haha. Never even got a PM or anything about it. Oh well, Avery lost another decoy buyer. Why they keep shooting themselves in the foot God only knows.

Guys,
I wasn't trying to stir up a hornet's nest. I visit this site occasionally, but wasn't aware this was such a loaded question. I just wanted to see some of the new products.

First, you need to understand how hard the people at Avery work to make the best products available to us hunters. Then, you need to think about priorities. I think Rick Frisch said on another post that in years past they have "bitten off more than they could chew". This year they have finished all the decoys they wanted to well ahead of the fall hunting season. Now that the products are complete, maybe they can put all the finished products on the new website, instead of continuously updating with new products.
Goosehunter, Avery is just trying to make an awesome website for you to complain about more. What are you going to do? Buy sub-par decoys because Avery's website wasn't done fast enough. I know a bunch of Avery Pro-Staffers and they are just like you or I: hunters first and foremost. They are just trying to make the best stuff that we can spend our money on.

No offense Curt, but we have been hearing for 2 years now to have patience. We were told that the new site would be up back on July 4th, 2004 (http://forum.averyoutdoors.com/showthread.php?t=9679&highlight=website). As long as its taking and with as many changes and new products that Avery introduces it seems like you guys are fighting a never ending battle of constant rewriting. I understand that things come up that are more important to your business than the website and they must be dealt with first, but 2 years seems like a long time to wait for the website to be redone.

Wingshooter, you are going to get it for that. By the way Ed, Dave Smith doesn't seem to have any problems with his site. In fact, he just put the Honker decoys on a few weeks back JUST LIKE HE SAID HE WOULD. 2 years is waaaaaaaayyyyy to long. Tell the proof readers to make it snappy or they will not get paid. Sounds simple to me. Not to bad this time. It only took about 60 seconds to load one page and then post.

Have any of you guys that are bickering about the website ever put together a website to the magnitued that avery is going to come out with? Dave Smith carries a small line of decoys, it should only take him a little while to update his site. Avery has tons of products varying in sizes and not to mention odd 6 packs like the harvester packs just to please people! I'm sure they want to include EVERYTHING before they put up the new site. This board gets upgraded everyday, heck someone asks for a field photo and in four hours you got it! What else do you want. What is the new site gonna show you that you don't already know about avery?? If you have any questions about anything ask here and it'll get answered by the days end. Go email another decoy manufacturer and see how long it might take to get the photo's or info you want. just my two cents for the day, I'm tired of reading the posts about the new site, anybody else?

Wow, it's obvious that it's the off-season. I'm not going to make any excuses, and yes two years is too long. We will keep working hard everyday to get it done, and sorry that we are late.

I am still trying to figure out why you have to type in WOW to get GHG products to come up:confused:

I know.....I wonder what other code words bring up hidden lists?
For instance if you type in DOG POO, does it bring up Flambeau's '06 line-up?
