View Full Version : Finisher Question ..... ???

I know it is a bit early to get ready for the upcoming season, but what is a guy to do on a rainy Sunday !!! Little maintenance to the ATV, get the blinds out and make sure I'm not missin' something, start sizin' up what will go in the new trailer, cold beer ... so okay the rainy Sunday works out for me.

After looking at my ground blinds I have a question. I can count on one hand the times I've used my Finisher. I have 3 Powerhunters, and 1 Finisher, each 3 years old. I'm a PH guy - quick, simple, small. The reason I haven't been fond of the Finisher is due to the fact of the set up and tear down, mainly the "frame risers" (the two shorter adjustable tubes down by your hips).

Do most of you leave the "frame risers" attached all the time? That has been my beef with using it, and the struggle to attach and detach the two risers. So today I folded it up with them attached, and it worked fine - did I miss something in the directions when I got it?

Dave- Yep, you missed it! Leave them attached. The Finisher though not as quick and easy to take down and set up as the Powerhunter, still is VERY quick and easy to do. If it takes more than 45 seconds to do it, you are missing it.
If you like the ease of use with the Powerhunter, but like the Finisher style, try the new Ground Force. Thats the ticket.

I noticed the GF, and GF dog blind do not come in Max4. What's up?

We hunt a ton of "min-til" corn, and have used several different patterns over the years - including the khaki, and Farmland too - and Max4 gets it done for us.

Don't tell me Avery's bailin' on Max4!

Dave,

Avery/GHG Products will not be made in Max-4 this year. Shadowgrass, Khaki in most and Natgear in many. The Khaki works out very well. By the time the blind is properly mudded and "brushed up" with corn stalks or what have you, the blind pattern is indistinquishable in most cases.

Thanks Tim,
As he is right on with that answer, I couldn't have said it better myself.

I have heard that question about the Finishers many times? I think alot of people quickly or never read the instructions and do it by the seat of their pants. The side adjustment tubes come apart and therefore I think they retake them apart every time. Maybe we need to re-write the instructions.....?
We have sold thousands of Finishers but does everybody read the instructions? Are they hard to understand? Let us know guy's.

Derek,
Not hard to understand at all. I just think since it doesn't specifically say -YOU MAY LEAVE THIS PIECE IN TO SAVE TIME AND EASE SETUP they take it out.

I have found that it folds up a little better with the bars out.

I just leave the frame risers in. I actually push the risers as far as the bars will go. I have never had any problem folding the blind with the frame risers attached. Derek, I hear that question all of the time too.

Mark & Derek, thanks for the clarification. Just for giggles I found my set up instructions, which I found are the same as the Avery website, and there is nothing regarding the risers - other than for customizing the blind.

Tim, I appreciate another 'Illinois boy' steppin' up with the info. The lack of Max4 in the arsenal is too bad. My operation is expanding, sticking with things that work for us is essential. I'm sure I can still find the blinds I need in the pattern I need. Thanks again, and good hunting this year.

I think you might want to look into the new Ground Force. It combines the Finisher and the Power hunter together into one blind. It has the room and comfortability of the Finisher and it folds up just like the Power Hunter. It is easy to set up and take down and it has a lower profile than the Finisher. We hunted out of them last season and we loved them.

Good Hunting!

Leave the risers attached...

I also think that you would really like the Ground Force. After testing it last fall, it is my new favorite blind. Comfort and roominess of the Finisher and ease of the PowerHunter. This blind has it all!

The Finisher blind definitely folds a lot flatter if you take the frame risers apart, but it is not necessary. Set-up and take down is so much easier when you leave them attached.

Subjectivity can't be eliminated can it? For my tastes, risers left joined are "flat enough" and as Rick and others state: "Set-up and take down is so much easier..."
