On August 13, 2006, the Virginia Waterfowlers Association held their 2nd Annual Calling Contest in Richmond Virginia at the Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show. The contest brought callers from 6 states in the Mid-Atlantic region. Avery Outdoors was one of several sponsors for this rapidly growing contest. Avery Pro-Staffers Allan Stanley, John Taylor, and Tom Cormany had a strong showing at the contest. Avery Pro-Staffer Allan Stanley finished 2nd in both the Open Goose and Open Duck. Allan was beat in the Open Duck by his son Jacob Stanley. Avery Pro-Staffer John Taylor finished third in both the Open Duck and Open Goose contest. Hometown caller and Avery Pro-Staffer Tom Cormany topped 5 callers to win the Virginia State Goose Calling Contest. Tom also had another impressive showing by finishing second in the Virginia State Duck Calling Contest for the second year in a row.
