new oversized mallard and blackduck decoys!!:D
But I am a little disappointed in the consistancy of the paint jobs on the blackducks....on most the feather detail on the breast is a light brown but on a couple it is WHITE!Whats up with that?
The Mallards look awesome and the keel grabber wieghts with stretchy cords work well but all that was ruined by the 2 or 3 blacky's that are of lesser quality!

Do you happen to have any PICS we can look at to get a better idea what the problem may be?

Did your OS mallards have the new paint style? What did you think?

The 2nd one from the left on the bottom is the worst.

I think you mean second from the right... right? I can kinda see what you're talkin about. Not extremely noticable.

A mature Mallard Drake has a white frosted color contrast on his back.

Man those decoys look sweet to me. Good Luck this season and be sure to post up pics when you put those to use.

I was thinking the same thing:confused:
I think they look awesome.
If the ducks are in close enough to decide that one certain black duck does not look right I should have already pulled the trigger.

I agree with most of the guys...I think they're fine. The decoys are the best on the market to begin with, and just like the others have said, if they ducks are in close enough to tell that miniscule color variance, then I think they'll be under heavy firepower by then. Good luck with them, and post up some pics from your hunts.

Compair the two blacks furthest to the right on the bottom. You can tell there is a difference. Customer service should be able to fix the problem.
He wanted the high quality, every detail pinned down, kind of decoy. Because they kill ducks, and thats why he picked GHG. I don't think he's asking too much.

I welcome those type of inconsistencies - subtle differences. Makes the spread look more natural to me.

OK for you guys that think they look awesome here is a closer pic....tell me that white wont shine in the marsh.

there is an obivious difference, but like was said before the difference just adds realism. I really dont think it will make a difference in production in the marsh. But I'll tell you what if your that conserned about it, send em to me and I'll post up the pics of the birds I kill over them!!:D

Thats a better pic. I'm not sure how much of a problem that is, I think it will add a little variety.
Its obviously a paint fluctuation. Regardless, you should get it the way you want it. I'm just not sure if that warrants the hassle of sending it in and then getting it shipped back. Can you paint it yourself?
J Kryspin

I highly doubt it will shine. If you think it will, then the rest of the decoys will shine because that's the same paint that's on the feathers (or it appears to be).
Either way, while it is 'off', like I said, I'd welcome it in my spread. How many black-mallard crosses do you see? We see a fair amount here in mid-atlantic area.

I dont think there is any paint...that is the problem.....I am gonna try and lightly paint it with some brown paint and that should take care of it.
I am not tying to make a big deal out of this.....just think that the GHG deke's are awesome and was a little dissapointed that there was such an inconsistancy in the paint jobs.
We do shoot a fair amount of cross breeds but they dont have white feathers on them!
Thanks for all the input,
Eric
i'd rather have that lighter on all of em, more realistic feather pattern to me.

Justice?????? Look at the sad looking decoys in the lower rights. A duck can see those are fake from 200 yrds. GHGs Don't even compare to the way things used to be. And we are crying over a little more paint then the other. try painting your sad looking decoy things or leave them at home.

This is one of those posts that I just have to shake my head at. In past posts too numerous too count people have been told to take their problems to customer service and if their concerns are justified the problem will be remedied by the company. GHG is a big enough company that I think they can handle replacing a decoy or two if the claim is legit. In any case, the decoys in the picture look great to me, and if you can't shoot ducks over those then you have bigger problems than the decoy paint job.

I think he handled the problem with a lot more maturity than a lot of other people have in past and present! As well, I don't think he posted this so other customers could grill him for stating an issue; I believe the real reason was to get opinions and suggestions from Avery employees and affilates.
If you disagree with this, maybe you should read the category of this forum again, "Avery® Product Question & Answers." I've seen too many forums go bad because too many negative attidue wielding people always make sure they put in there $.02 worth!
