I just wanted to know how everyone is going to protect their FFD's until the 6-slot bags arrive? We just bought 156 FFD's and we will be hunting with them during the early season here in MN. We are also taking a trip to North Dakota the 2nd weekend of September. We are trying to come up with an idea to keep the damage to a minimum on this huge investment. If you have any ideas lets here it. I should also let you know that we will be hauling the decoys in 2-6X12 enclosed trailers.

Heavy duty trash bags might be an option.

Do you have shelves built in there? If you don't have shelves in there, the 6 slot Canada goose decoy bags are the way to go. They stack well and will help to keep the decoys looking great for many seasons.

Problem is, everyone is sold out of the six slot bags and there is no way to build enough shelves in a 6x12 trailer to hold 150+ decoys. I have the same problem as Jeff. Any bright ideas?

We wentto the local dollar store and picked some laundry bags.( size of a pillow case) They seem to work nice. Also they have a draw string, which makes it easy to carry. Just an idea.

This is the route I'd go... Something to individual bag them until 6 slots become available...

I have also seen some pretty cool ideas for mounting them on the wall as well. 2 twelve foot trailers can hold a lot of decoys. The bags will be showing up soon. You should be able to get you hands on some soon. If I were you, I would go to your local dealer and pre-pay for some bags so that you will be sure to get them when they come in.

Bags will start showing up very very soon. Had a few at Cabelas today in K.C., but they didn't last long.

I'll get some pics tomorrow and post them up tomorrow night of how we do it. It's inexpensive and effective.

The slotted bags are starting to show up at various retailers. I know that Red Bear is going to receive 24 next week. I don't know how back-ordered he is, but it may be worth give Paul a call.

I use the dollar store laundry bags with long black socks over the heads... That way if any lint sticks to the flocking, it's black anyway...
After I individually bag them, I then place them in a standard ol' decoy bag the best I can. We have banged 'em around and noticed no real paint problems... I guess I baby them too though...
The black sock trick is pretty sweet... Check it out.

I agree Jeff--pick up some "tuxedo" socks. I picked up 5 pair at walmart for about $5. they roll down over the heads great and dont pull on the flocking when removed. Just extra protection even while they are in the bags.

I am going to double bag all of my decoys. That should be enough to provide optimal protection with little extra effort.

I double bag my ffd's using laundry bags and six slot bags.

I have the 6-slot bags, :D and I also put a nylon sock over the flocked head for added protection.

I guess I just taped up the box they came in, just to make them a bit sturdier, then kept the bubble wrap that the decoys came in and then put them back in the bubble wrap and back in the box. It worked really well but got to be a pain in the wind. I then bagged what I could and threw the rest on top, just like any other decoy. Durability testing if you will. So far, they have held up great but I am going to be bagging the rest this year.

Jeff I also have the same issue and I'm going to leave my ffd Elites at home and use my other (older) GHG dekes for early season! I also tried something new in my trailer this year, I put up 4 rows of closet poles on the top and put 5 dekes per row! It seems to work o.k. It will get me bye for now til the bags get here.

I just got 60 FFD Canada's and we will protect them in 6-slot bags + some socks for the heads.
Just one thing to be carefull if you protect them in some individual bags made on material not waterproof. If it's raining outside, make sure you individual bags are not wet cause if it's it goes below 0 degree during the night, the bag will freeze and in the mourning when you'll pull on the bag to remove the decoy, some flocking might stay stuck to the bag and you'll ruined your decoys. It never happened to me but it already happened to a guy.

Try this link. Heavy duty plastic bags should work. Fairly cheap considering the investment.
