On August 27, 2006, the Delmar Waterfowl Club in Dover Delaware hosted the Delaware State and Delaware Bay Open Duck and Goose calling contest. The event consists of 11 contests that allow callers of all ages and skill level a chance to participate. This year’s event was organized by Avery Pro-Staffer Allan Stanley. Allan has been organizing this event for the past 12 years, but expanded the contest to 11 contests in 2005. This year’s event was sponsored by Avery Outdoors, Delmar Waterfowl Club, and several call manufactures including Allan Stanley Game Calls.

This years contest was attended by callers as far away as South Carolina. Avery Pro-Staffers John Taylor and Rusty Hallock finished in the top 5 of 3 of the contest. John Taylor finished 2nd in the Delaware Bay Open Goose Calling Contest and 3rd in the Delaware Bay Open Duck Calling Contest. Rusty Hallock and teammate Will Deblois finished 5th in the Delaware State Open Team Meat Duck Calling Contest.
The true stars of the day were sons of Avery Pro-Staffers Allan Stanley and John Taylor. John Taylor’s son Josh finished 3rd in the Delaware Bay Open Novice Goose Calling Contest. Allan’s oldest son Bonce finished 1st in the Delaware State Duck Calling Contest winning a spot in the World Duck Calling Contest in Stuttgart this November.

Allan’s youngest son Jacob really put on a show by finishing 1st in 5 of the contest which included: Delaware Bay Open Goose, Delaware Bay Open Duck, Delaware State Junior Open Goose, Delaware State Open Junior Open Duck, and Delaware State Open Team Duck. His partner in the Delaware State Team Duck was Scott Bauswell. Jacob also finished 3rd in the Delaware State Goose Calling Contest. This contest has developed into one of the premier contests on the East Coast.
