Me and my buds are thinking of adding a few goose floaters to our open water duck spread in Louisiana. We never kill geese, so it's more of a target decoy due to size and color. My question is would ya'll use speck or canada floaters? We were originally thinking of using speck floaters because of our area, but the more I think about it the canada floaters would probably stand out more due to all the white and black. Once again these are gonna be used strictly for target decoys from a distance. My thinking is with the canadas you've got all the white for sunny days, and also all the black to stand out on cloudy days. Your thoughts please!!!

myself i would go with snow geese because you can see them from much further away than specks or honks.

but if you want honks or specks i would go with the ones you see most.

the sheer size difference between the duck and goose decoy will be a good visiual target. I would propably go with specks if thats what is in your area more. Always try to look natural, we put some canada floaters in our spread all the time but we rearely see specks. That new speck floater GHG has out looks insane. Good luck this year.

Oh-yea we usually put our goose floaters about 10 to 15 yards out from the ducks to one side or so.

Bull,
If you plan to only use one type of goose decoy I would use Canada floaters. But, if you plan to use a couple of different types I would put a 1/2 dozen or so specks on the edge of my duck decoys and move a 1/2 dozen or so canada or a couple dozen snow floaters several yds. upwind.
