Got out to the lake around 4 a.m. to get to our spot. Had a long walk due to the lack of rain, but once we got to our spot we immediately started setting out 2 dozen mallards. Once we were through with that, we still had about an 1 hour and 20 minutes until legal shooting time, therefore we attempted to get in a little sleep in. About an hour went by and it was time to head out to our chairs. The lake is so low, we can just walk in and set our chairs pretty much anywhere we want in the middle of the lake. But in this case, we had set them about 50 yards off of a main lake point. Got set down, we all got loaded up. Shooting time comes, and we see a few small groups of bluewingers here and there, but nothing special........yet. About 5 minutes into the hunt, we spot a group of about 30-35 to the right of us about 200 yards away. They do some crazy things as usual, and we pull out the calls on them. They responded really well and decoyed PERFECTLY! Came about 15 yards from us, and out of 9 shots, we got 8 birds. Stunned us a little. While picking those teal up, I spotted a single drake trying to sneak by behind us. I pulled up on him and got him in 1 shot. That brought us to 9 teal, and we had 3 to go. Not to long after that, my brother pulled up on a group by himself, and got one. We got everything situated and picked up and sat back down. Not 15 minutes later, another nice sized group of about 15 teal swung by over our heads, and we managed 2 out of that group. So we had 4 a piece, and that was our limit. The hunt was over in a matter of 30 minutes, this was a new record for us on a family limit.
