I just picked up a used SBE, and was wondering what tubes you guys are using in your SBE. Looking for something that will shoot a bit tighter than an Improved Mod, yet still be able to shoot large steel shot. How about wad wizards, terror tubes etc?

You have so many options to choose form. but one thing to keep in mind You are going to be shooting STEEL, or other non-toxic loads. So buy a choke desinged for these loads. Patternmaster is a good choke and alot of the guys on this board use it. It is farly tight. Yoiu can also look at briley, pure gold, and many more.

I think the maine thing that needs to be emphasized is to buy a choke made for Non-toxic loads

Good luck

Michael

I want to add too that I will be shooting Hevi Shot as well as steel.

I shoot a Wad Wizard and is seems to work very well. Your pattern wont really change, just your shot string which will create a "wall" of shot hitting your target.

I shoot a PatternMaster and I'm very pleased with it. I also shoot a Terror .655 for snow geese. This is tighter than a lot of the turkey chokes out there.

Do you guys still use an after market choke with the SBE II? I found that my new one patterned better with the factory chokes. I assume this is because the factory chokes are now the extended ones. Not trying to threadjack here, just expanding the area of the intital question. Any input?

I have shot a Briley IM extended tube for the past 6 years. You would be amazed if that choke tube could tell stories!

The Briley IM extented is a great choke, but got replaced by a PatternMaster in my pole. I still keep the Briley in the Pit Bag, it gave me many years of great service and lots of triples. I'd give a thumbs up to both.

I have a PatternMaster in my SBE. This set up has worked great for the last several years.

One that hasnt been thrown out there in the thread is Angle Port(www.angleport.com). They are based in Batesville, AR and make a fantastic line of chokes. Ported, non-ported.....whatever you are looking for they make. I bought a Browning over/under last fall and (gulp) bought a full set of these chokes. I also picked up one..a Lt. Mod for my benelli SBE that will now be the feature choke in my field gun. I liked the PatternMaster fine, but it is kinda rough on the guy in the ground blind 10 feet from you with all the percussion being sent out. bad enough that my brother in law took it out of my gun last year in canada and wouldnt give it back till the trip was over!!!!!!!!

Just something else you guys may want to try...reasonable in price...bout $60 per choke

I started using the Briley extended IM last year and really like the results shooting both steel BBs and #2s and also Kent Impact and Hevi Shot.
