Weekly Product Spotlight Form

Name: Jim Thompson, Jr.

Date: September 18, 2006

Product Name:

Greenhead Gear® Over-Size Series ™ Full Body Mallard Decoys with RealMotion™ bases and stakes

Product Features and Benefits:

- Over-Sized body for great visibility
- Anatomically correct body posture
- Convincing realism
- Lightweight, durable design
- Exact paint scheme replication
- Collapsible legs
- Realmotion™ bases
- Realmotion™ stakes
- Two drakes to one hen ratio
- Two Active and two Feeder postures

Practical Product Uses:

The Greenhead Gear® Over-Size Series™ Full Body Mallards will emulate active feeding mallards in harvested cropland situations, loafing and resting fowl on sandbars and mud flats, birds at rest in flooded pastures and croplands, and dabbling birds in almost any environment. The Full Body Mallards are also great for replicating flocks across shallow water situations in marshes, ponds, and lakes.

Tips for Using the Product:

To utilize the full potential of the RealMotion™ bases or stakes, face the decoy directly into the wind. This will assure that the decoy doesn’t stop in a downwind position. Because the decoys are lightweight and space friendly, I often use the fiberglass motion stake when conditions allow for it. Always have the motion bases packed with you just in case you run into extremely soft ground that won’t support the stake in a vertical position for an extended period of time. Soft ground could also result from extremely dry ground that has been disked to powder or from water-saturated soils. For Full Body Mallard use on frozen ground or ice, the motion bases are the real deal. You may also choose to tuck the bungee cord legs into the body cavity and set the decoy directly on the ground or ice for a natural look. Use caution when doing so in extremely windy conditions.

To transport the Full Body Mallards, one must also think about how to pack the decoys. I used to think that the 6 and 12-slot decoy bags were made for high-end blocks, but once you use the slotted bags made by Avery® for your Full Body Mallards, you won’t use anything else. Not only do the slotted bags assure individual protection for the decoys, they make storage, transportation, and setup/teardown a breeze.

Additional Notes:

Follow the attached link to the Avery Website Homepage and a related article by Jim Thompson ("Raising the Stakes") with tips for using longer, custom stakes in deeper water to utilize your Full-Body decoys in your water spreads. http://www.averyoutdoors.com/#

I like the pictures of the live ducks in with the dekes and the dead one in Old Faithful's jaws... but that one in the snow is a masterpiece!!!

A great representation of a great decoy...

Great Shots. I have a cornfield back home that allways floods out during the fall before being plowed. I can't wait to get home and mix some life size GHG greenheads with my new Fullbody's. Thanks for the shots.
