This is not a blow on the GHG's whatsoever. Just wanted to state that from the beginning.

I am getting my dekes ready for the season, and I have some that need some minor touch-ups from normal wear and tear. Mostly mallards and pintails. Just curious what type of paints/colors everybody else uses. In the past I have just matched the colors as best I could with paint from Wally World, but I am afraid that regular old generic paint might not do the GHG dekes justice. Thanks

I would say if it is minor touching up, just do the best you can! Also, make sure the paint is paint that can be subjected to the elements (water, ice, rain, etc.). In my opinion, if the touching up is going to be minor, the ducks should be dead by the time IF they notice.....right?

Thanks for choosing Avery/GHG!!!!!!

In addition to "improving" all new decoys, I touch up every year as well. I have had best luck using acrylic paints from an art store. You get total range of color through blending, and they seem to hold up well on plastic. Bullseye 1-2-3 makes a good primer for plastics, and you can apply a sealer if you want, although I'm not certain it will improve durability as most paint loss happens from underneath. Most important is to thoroughly clean and degrease with alcohol prior to priming. Many people have used Krylon as well. Good luck.
