Guys,

I'll be hunting out of a box (think shed) style blind this year for the first time. We're required to build a blind to put at our location and leave it for the season (we're hunting a PA state park). We found a design in a magazine that we're going to use but there is nothing for my dog. Having never done this I'm not sure where the dog should be. Granted, he could just sit on the floor but I think that he'd not only be kind of in the way, but he wouldn't be able to mark birds as they fall. I want him "in" the blind somehow so he's out of the weather on really harsh days but also out of the way.

Any pics or drawings / other advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Adam

My dog either sits on the floor next to my bench or he lays under the bench. There's no way he could mark a bird that way but I can't put him outside the blind either. I did have a blind once that had a platform next to the blind that he sat on. You just have to do the best you can unless you build a shelter for him "mini blind" next to your blind with a ramp for him to get in and out of the box from.

My dog sits to the far left of the blind if you are in the blind looking out. We put a dog door on that end and cut a hole in the front for her to mark the birds. This works great we can get 4 guys and a dog in the blind comfortably.
