I know this subject is getting old but i just need to know what you would get. If only could use one after market choke tube for ducks and geese OVER DECOYS what choke would you get. Ive heard great things with pattern master and wad wizzard. Please post up your thoughts. Thanks for any help

Another vote for Patternmaster. Get the Short Range Patternmaster if you will be shooting over decoys.

Patternmaster is a great choke. The only reason I change mine is to shoot skeet.

I have a Briley which works fine over the dekes but if you need to reach out and touch some birds, and stop them mid-air you had better screw in a Patternmaster!

without a doubt a .675 terror choke...deadly is all i can say ...if your going with fast stuff thats what i use it does not come out of my gun...and all i shoot is #1s

Your factory chokes should be just fine for shooting over decoys. I shoot a Browning Gold Hunter and use the modified choke year around. In fact, the only time it comes out is when it is cleaned.

Personally, I think after market chokes are over rated. If you actively shoot at passing birds then maybe one is justified.

I have the problem of the geese bein to close and i miss every time with the pattern master but i think im going to invest in the short range instead of the long but where i excel is when there gettin away then i start shootin and they just keep fallin

Patternmaster. I love mine. I shoot extended over decoys, and its awesome. When you get the birds sailing or a cripple, finishing them is EASY.

I chose a wad wizard for my Xtrema 2 however, I have not had a chance to hunt with it yet. I will let you know what happens this weekend!

I shoot a Kicks Smoke in light mod. Best choke I have ever used.

Modified factory choke for me, we're talking shooting over decoys, and I shoot a Baikal MP-153 semi-auto.

I agree with some of these aftermarket chokes being very overated. I have owned both Wad Wizard and Patternmaster, and sold them both after a day at the range putting pellets on paper at a variety of distances with those and my factory Crio Chokes from my SBE. It's hard to try before you buy but I know Wad Wizard has a 30 day money back guarantee. Test pattern the load you use in the field and get your own results.

I agree with Josh. Frankly, I got tired of my screw-in chokes either coming loose or freezing up, so this year I'm going strictly with a standard factory modified barrel. When I did use screw-in chokes I never took the modified choke out anyway, other than to clean it. Factory modified provides a great pattern for me using steel shot from 20 to 40 yards. I don't see how a custom choke could improve on that performance. I do know that custom chokes would result in a tighter pattern that would produce more misses, but I really don't want that.

The biggest difference I found with mine was in wacking cripples. ( I dont get near as many with the Patternmaster) Anyway, We had a Bluebill that I shot repeatedly on the water at about 40-45 yards. Most my shot string was well before it, even with me aiming high. Shooting the identical gun, and identical load, Brett shot it with a Pattermaster attached, and it looked like a bowling ball hit the water, and the bill went "hooves up." That sold me right there, and I have never hunted without one since in either my SuperX2 or my new SBE II. I love it.
