I've got permission on a cut cornfield this weekend with rye sewn into it. The geese have been coming into this field for over 2 weeks straight at about 6:30 the farmer says. There are about 70 birds total, so not to many to work with, but they come in about 3-4 flocks, so it could be a good shoot. I'm going to hunt with 2-3 other guys, and we're planning on puttin out 18 GHG fullbodies, and then about a dozen feeder bigfoots since the flock is not very big. Should we leave it at that, or to hide the blinds a little better, add in the dozen shells I have? Thanks for the input guys.

There is no doubt you can kill birds over just the fullbodies you have listed. I for one would add the shells, just to be able to hide the blinds a little better. It never hurts to make sure you are good and hidden. Somedats even when we hunted 5-6 dozen fullbodies it felt like we could have used more for coverage.

I think you would be just fine with the fullbodies, but it won't hurt to add the shells for more concealment. We had about 90 birds decoy to 12 GHG fullbodies a couple weeks ago. It was a pretty cool site to see.

Just make sure you are concealed you should be fine. Maybe take a morning and go watch the birds and see if any are laying down in the field. Mimic what you see.

I would hide the blinds the best you can. Ive always felt the more the merrier with the decoys.

Rich,
First yes you will need to hide the blinds as best you can, secondly I'm going to tell you yes you will kill birds over the spread you have talked about. The one thing you going to want to do is scout the field, as you mentioned the geese are coming in 3 or 4 groups, the question is how many are coming in that first group?

If there are only say 5 or 6 birds coming in with the first flight, you may want to cut back you decoys; this way you don't "scare" birds. What I mean by that is if there is only 5 or 6 birds in the first flight going to a field for a week or so, and always hang out with 70 to 100 birds they get used to see that. Now if you go out and but out 18 or 36 decoys when the birds do show up they may thing something is wrong and choose not to come in for a look. I have seen this happen, and I have had it happen to me.

The best thing is to scout and see.
Good luck let us know what happens.
