Hello Avery Pro-Staffers!!

Your opinions and suggestions on the following experience with Avery\GHG:

First, I have always thought GHG\Avery were the best. I have been waiting for my very first GHG decoys that I ordered this year. We were very excited to be getting them. Yesterday, I received part of (6 feeders) my order of my FFD Elite Fulbody NEW 2006 series GHG decoys. I ordered them and have been waiting for them for over a month. Ordered through Cabela's. We were very excited to get them, after waiting so long. Upon inspection of them, I found a badly cracked leg stub...no big deal right? Just give a call to Avery and they'll fix it. (cont. below) As everybody here probably knows, ALL NEW 2006 GHG Goose decoys come with slotted bags now. Upon inspection of the 6-slot bag today which came with our decoys, my dad noticed we did NOT get the new 6-slot motion bag which are supposed to come with these decoys, but rather the regular style 6-slot bag. The difference is that the NEW motion bags do not require you to remove the RealMotion bases from the decoys before you place them in the bag. The motion bags also have a pouch on the side of the bag, and are of bigger dimensions to accomodate the motion bases. The '06 GHG decoys are supposed to come with the 6-slot MOTION bags. This was confirmed by GHG.
So we figure we'd call GHG, as they packed the boxes, not Cabela's. We figured we'd get pretty good service after buying over $700 of their decoys. First, my dad spent 10 minutes trying to convince GHG that their 2006 goose decoys come with slotted bags...THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT!!!! Then as he was going in circles on the phone with his GHG rep, my dad talked to a manager, who proved to be no more helpful. She confirmed that we got the wrong bags, but she was't at all concerned that we were unsatisified. She was very rude with my dad. My dad never yelled at GHG or said anything offensive. They said that the earliest they would send us the right bags would be in the middle of Oct. Then back on the broken leg stub. GHG didn't even have 1 goose decoy in stock...they're all in China. GHG told us that all our problems should be directed to Cabelas. So my dad called Cabela's who were refreshingly more helpful, and they are going to solve the leg stub problem. WE STILL DON'T HAVE OUR 6-SLOT BAG PROBLEM SOLVED. Cabela's don't have any motion bags in-stock and they won't until the end of next month. Just to let ya know, my state opener is this Saturday, and I can't even use the decoys I ordered months ago.

As all of you Avery Pro-Staffers represent the Avery\GHG Co, I would like your opinions on what kind of customer service you think I should have recieved from Avery. Also, how do I resolve these 6-slot motion bag problems??? I still have more decoys that I haven't recieved yet. I'm sure they will be wrong too. I'm very dissapointed in Avery. Their decoys might be good, but their customer service is terrible. We're not idiots or dorks, this was a very big purchase for us. We have been nice to everybody that we dealt with.

I'm not trying to slam Avery on this. I just want to get this resolved. I DON'T WANT TO CREATE ANY DISAGREEMENT WITH AVERY\GHG ON THIS. I WANT TO REMAIN A RESPECTED MEMBER OF THIS FORUM. ALL I WANT IS TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THEN I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NEGATIVE TO SAY ABOUT GHG.

I still think GHG decoys are the best!

I look forward to your replies! Thank you!

Matt

Wow, I would be pretty darn upset as well. This is not the Avery C/S I've been hearing of lately. I'm hoping there is a very good explanation to this as well.

Please refer to my responses to your other post on this matter.

As far as I can tell your only problem is that you have a decoy with a bad leg. Although they are Avery decoys, you did in fact purchase them from Cabelas. Cabelas has a very good customer service and warranty replacement program for all of their products. I would have called Cabelas first to see what they could do to resolve the problem of your decoy. Again the bags that are included with the FFD Elite Series are a regular slotted bag.

That is what I read on page (21) in the Cabelas Waterfowl catalog last line under the FFD description.

I also see the same under the FFD in the MPW catalog on page (9).

Again as I mentioned in your other post, if you cannot get your issue resolved via Cabelas I would then suggest to call Avery Customer Service.

Original slotted bag slots= 15" X 11"
Motion Bag slots= 10" X 10"

The motion bag is smaller than the original bag.

Thanks Tim. The description in the Macks' catalog is a little confusing, but to me it sounds like he got the motion bag, the one with the smaller slots.

As far as customer service goes, that is not the response we have been hearing from other satisfied cutomers. It sounds like the exception more than the rule. We are sorry that you and your father had a bad experience, and hopefully someone from customer service can help lead you into the right direction for fixing this problem. Give the post a little time and I am sure someone with a little more knowledge can help you out.

Thanks, Dave, I appreciate you kind, professional response. I hope that I'm not creating hard feelings with anyone. This is not what I want to do. All I want is a professional response from some knowledegable Pro-staffers. Maybe I just shouldn't have posted any of this on here.
This is what I thought about GHG, that their C\S was very satisfactory. Maybe I called at the wrong time with the wrong people there. I'll do more explaining of the situation here. Yes, I did check into the sizes. It's very plain that the motion bags are smaller. See below.

When we called GHG yesterday, they verified that this Cabela's item number should be the bags that are in the '06 decoys-- LT-22-6940-729. Check this in the Cabela's Waterfowl Cat. pg. 59. These are the Fullbody Motion bags. I ran out and measured the bags (thanks Tim for the dimension at Mack's PW!!!). I get the motion bag dimensions (11x10x20) BUT this is even more confusing. If these are the motion bags, where are the expandable side pouches??? It's listed in the description below from Mack PW and I will confirm this with Avery.
Allows you to transport full body decoys without removing the motion base
Duramax™ cover for durability
Polyester top with drawstring closure
Weight displacing shoulder strap
ABT™ no-slip shoulder pad
Expandable side pockets for extra gear
Slot Dimensions 11 inch x 10 inch x 20 inch

If these bags are the right ones, and they are not supposed to have these pockets, PLEASE forgive me for all the trouble. I just wanted to get everything that I was supposed to. Would an Avery Pro-Staffer please call Avery, and ask them about this. I would appreciate it!

Matt, I can't check right now, but I will check my Motion Bags when I get home. I have never used the pockets, therefore I have never looked for them either. I will double check my bags and see what I can come up with. Unless of course someone beats me to it! The description is a little confusing about the "Allows you to transport full body decoys without removing the motion base" so the expndable side pockets coukd be a similiar situation.

Matt,

Here is the product description from the Cabelas website and is the same description that is in their paper catalog on (Page 21), I would point out the fact that it DOES NOT say anything about a Full Body Motion Bag to be included with these decoys.

Greenhead Gear® FFD Elite™ Series Goose Decoys
In recent testing, the Fully Flocked Decoy (FFD) proved to be the difference maker on the toughest days and the toughest geese. They maintain the most natural appearance of any decoy on the market under all weather and lighting conditions. Fred Zink's lifelike paint scheme provides the most natural look of any production decoy in history. Plus the electrostatic flocking process provides additional realism. FFD Actives and Feeders come in a six-pack with RealMotion™ bases and six RealMotion stakes. FFD Lookers come in a four-pack with four RealFeet™ bases. The FFD Rester and FFD Sleeper style come in a four-pack and add a posture geese have seen only in live birds. All include a slotted decoy bag for transport and storage.

Page 59 in the Cabelas catalog clearly only refers to Decoy Bags alone, not to include or be included with decoys.
