Well guys our season in CA is just around the corner. With that in mind I have been taking a look at my favorite spots recently. Yesterday I went on a little boat ride with my son, partner Robert, and my 8 month old Lab Susie. We took Robert's boat this time because I wanted to see how the Pro-Drive performed. We checked several holes in the first 1 1/2 hours and all looked good. There are plenty of birds and the new growth was a positive. On the way out of one spot I pointed to a cut in the channel that used to lead to a little hole at the end of it. USED TO is the key point. After a bout 200 yards we realized that with all of the high water last year this cut became a gathering point for a lot of trash and when the water returned back to normal the vegatation became really thick. So we stopped and turned the boat around. and started to work our way out. After about 10 yards we were collecting to much vegatation. So we decided to lift the motor, clear the prop, and walk a little to clearer water. This is where it got frustrating. The motor was up for about 3-5 minutes. Once we tried to start it FLOODED. For some reason as it was explained to me when you tilt those motors they tend to flood. After an hour of messing with the motor and several calls to the salesmen we were informed of a little screw on the right side near the bottom of the carb. As instructed we opened it a bit and you should have seen the gas run out. At that point Robert looked at me and started the motor. I hopped in and we were off on the 45 minute ride to the launch. I highly commend my partner Robert for how he controlled himself around my son. Long story short, my son and dog had a great time. As for Robert and I we only got to about half of the spots we wanted and plan to take my boat next time.

Stu,
You know what they say about Boats and Pools, the best 2 days of ownership are the day you buy one and the day you sell one :D
Good thing you guys didn't get stranded or hurt!
Glad to hear that your son and the dog had a good time!

Tell me about it. I just hope the conditions work out. Make sure your brother calls me. I would like hook up for a hunt with him. The place we went is where you and I grew up and looks real good. We are getting more birds each day and it is finally starting to cool down some. Be sure to get with me at the World next month.

Stuart,
I was in SE Alaska from 9/3 - 9/15 hunting moose and the river systems were full of birds heading south. I couldn't believe how many ducks we were seeing every day on the rivers. Temperatures got down into the upper 20's at night and was pushing birds towards the valley.
Thanks again for your guidance in my pursuit of becoming a Pro-Staffer.

Not a problem with the help. Sean is a good dude and I value his word. I took Cody Bair from Idaho last night to look at some birds and it is just looking good. I cannot wait until the 21st. If i am lucky my photos will be able to hold up to all of the other posts of recent openers.

Stuart,
In the future, when you guys raise that motor up, disconnect the fuelline from the motor. (If you can). I don't know if your's has a quick-disconnect or not. This will eliminate the flooding issue. Good job on getting her fired back up.

Thank you for the input. I will pass the tip on to my partner. He was very frustrated with the whole deal. There definately is going to be a list of trouble shooting tips for my partner the next time he heads out. I am hearing more and more that these motors are not quite perfected. I am sure that future models will address this issue.
Thanks again
