I was just wondering how all the Wisconsinites faired during last weekends opener. I went down to the mississippi river for the first time and had quite an experience. Though it was close quarters for hunting I still had a blast. Saw a lot of ducks, and shot a few but missed a little to much. Also the first time Ive ever been hit with BBs from other hunters!

I know how you feel. Some people don't understand hunter edicit. Some places, I don't thing it even applies. It happens everywhere. Out here in NV people do it know matter who got their first or how close you are. I've been in more than one yelling match with other hunters how don't give @#$%! Good luck with the rest of your season.

I hate shooting hens. But the rookies were out for the meat and the shooting. Once the drakes look like drakes, I'm going to try to put the brakes on that. We got 6 hens (3 each day) and 4 drake mallards over the two days. Even though they are hard to tell opening weekend.

according to your post there were three of you? in wis. you are only allowed one hen per day for each legal shooter.(because inquiring minds want to know).

The pictures speak for them self. but since your inquiring. on 9/30 2 drake woodys 3 hens and 2 young drake mallards and 10/1, 3 hens and 2 dakes mallards and three geese for three guys each day. whats wrong with that???
WE hunted in the same blind and took turns shooting. Hope this helps. I sure didn't shoot them all by my self.

You Let a hen mallard go on opening weekend on public land in Wisconisn, it was just get pounded to the ground by the next group of guys 30 yards away, and if they miss, it will just get pounded by the next group of guys 30 yards away from them if the duck is still flying and 100 yards up in the sky and climbing, heck, the next group will open up on it because to some weekend warriors, steel shot kills ducks 100+ up:rolleyes: (Sarcasticly Said)

On the flip side here in Central WI, the mallards are changing over very quickly and you can clearly tell the difference now, we got one this morning with almost a fully green head. Good Hunting.

i agree on that post of opening wknd of hunting.i do not take that stance.i try to not shoot hens of any species that i can tell.geese, who knows what you got.at least some were succesful in shooting some birds.
