We went out to the SAME corn field that we have hunted the past 2 times, only because it is in a high bird area. We got set up and right when light came, so did the ducks. No mallards came, though we say many high flocks that had been kicked off of water. A flock of 4 wood ducks zipped by us and it was so fast we had no shots. They ended up landing 5 feet behind our blinds while a flock of 15 woodies came ripping in. They are so fast and jumpy compared to geese, we had a hard time figuring what pass to take em on. We finally got up on them when they were 10 yards to our left and got 3. Due to low light, we only got 1 drake, and the 2 hens. Don't you just hate that.

After awhile the hundreds of honks started to move. We were not sure where they were going to go since we had not scouted it this past week. Turned out that around 600 of them were going to a field a couple miles south. Most flew their lines just off of our field and flagging distance, but after a few long hours of blowing calls and whipping the flag around we ended up getting 5 stragglers to come in.

Good day with 3 woodies and 5 honks(4 inland and 1 lesser)
