What are the straps on the inside of the door for. Should these be tight when in use?

maxx,
Are you talking about the straps you pull the doors closed with or what?? Where are they positioned??

If you are talking about the straps that are attached to the frame, Yes. This keeps the frame tight and allows the doors to move freely when opened.

I think that he is talking about the straps on the door that are simply for closing the doors. If these are not what you are talking about let us know...posting a picture would help us give you a for sure answer.

if you are talking about the straps on each side of the frame inside the doors, I had a prob with one of my doors binding, Fred Zink told me to ajust these straps untill the door open smoothly. Too tight will cause them to bind he said. Although that was not the prob i had. Just play with them to they feel right is my input.

I haven't actually used mine yet but a buddy was using his and it was binding up for him. I think he must have had his straps to tight.

Spud what did Fred say for adjusting. The straps for closing the door are not adjustable. It is the ones that is adjustable that runs the length of the door.

Thanks guys.

maxx, Fred told me if the doors were binding to try and ajust the strap the runs the lenght of the door, he said if they were to tight they would bind. The prob with mine was at the bottom of the door frame where the bolt goes through was bent. i just took a pair of pliers and straighted it. I also find if the blind is not stretched out enough, they will bind too.

he left me the cust service # 1-800-333-5119, and ask for Fred Zink, he was very interested in fixing any probs with these blinds since they were new on the market.

You are right Spud. If these straps are too tight or too lose the doors CAN bind. Get in your blinds and play with these straps until you get the doors at the level you want them to operate.

Hi all, new to the site! Maxx posted this question for me... exactly the issue stated... I did the initial set up in the garage and the worked fine... but first trip in the field on soft ground the straps were apparently WAY too tight... first group of birds dropped in and the doors stuck, so I had to force them and it bent the door supports where it goes into the hinge connector at the bottom, compounding the issue. Fought it all weekend until Maxx posted this. Think its fixed o.k. now. Lesson learned - adjust the straps each time you use it... varying ground conditions and blind positions may required different levels of tension on the straps.

Only issue I have now is that the stress on the doors caused the slide connectors to flare out and they slide past the stop screws... worried they will continue to flare and not stay in place.

Two other quick comments:

1) Most of the factory installed screws in the connectors were overdriven and thus the heads were stripped out so I can't take the parts out to fix/replace them if needed in the future.

2) Wish the bottom zipped open

Otherwise I really like the design!

I have a ground force and i wondered what these straps were for too. I figured they needed to be really tight until I hunted out of it for the first time. Gotta have them loosened up a little for your doors to open smoothly

I just received my Khaki Ground Force today and I am having the same problem as Spud. It doesn't appear to be a problem with the straps, rather one of my doors is binding because the door frame rubs against the hinge when opened or closed. If I manually hold the door frame straight, it opens fine, but when untouched the frame appears bent so that it rubs against the hinge on the bottom of the blind. Is this the problem that you had Spud? It has already worn a bunch of the powder coat off of the aluminum frame. Should I call customer service tomorrow and see what they can do for me? Thanks for any help,

Brent

yes this is what was wrong, if you can carefully take the metal frame out of the door, look at the tab part at the end where the bolt goes through, mine was bent, so i took a pair pf pliers and straightened it, but try not to move it too much or it might weaken it if you know what i mean, i would call custumer service if that doesn't work, they might be able to send you a new door frame.
