I own a pair of hodgeman durmag 1200s that I Bought last year and the boots cracked on the top Sterns has replaced them for me but i was wondering if there are any tips to keep this from cracking? I am thinking that the boots cracked due to the dry and very hot summers in nevada.

Rub some armor all on em every now and then it worked on mine so it should help yours!

Same thing happened to me and Sterns replaced them. I even stored them in a "cold room" hung up from the proper boot hanger and cleaned them after every use.Which I will continue to do.

I dont know if this will help your boots from cracking but pick up a peet boot dryer and every night before a hunt put them on there....they dry them out nice and there nice in toasty for the next morning.

try to use some rain-x or nikwax spray to help keep the water from penetrating the rubber... if you hunt salt or alcali water- this is best!
