I hunted the wed and today for ducks and geese. Wed morn , in the duck hole, we saw no ducks but 2 groups of geese flying overhead and the one small group turned and gave the timber a look but we had no geese decoys out and they wouldnt come into timber anyways. So we went home and changed gear and grabbed about 22 full body and shell goose decoys and hunted a nearby cut corn field. At 2pm we had 1 group of about 10 come into the field and look onto our decoys then they get right above our spread at about 30 or 35 yds up and I didnt call the shot cuz they looked real good and hoped to see some wings being set, then one bird flipped and flared right out as the rest followed. Then this morning I had a pair of wood ducks work my decoys all morning and they set in the same hole as we were in but they stayed true and held tight to where they were and never swam over. Those birds were still in the hole when we pulled our decoys and I didnt want to jump shoot them or anything so we backed out but had no shots. I guess just bad luck or maybe I did something wrong?

That's why they call it hunting and not killing..........;)

Were your blinds hid well enough if you ever have any doubts add some more vegetation. I am so PICKY about my blinds blending in that some think I'm crazy. And as far as the wood ducks it sounds like 2 local ducks who knew where they wanted to go and your decoys threw them off for a minute. I doubt you did anything wrong. Keep at it and good luck next time.
