Well I hate to say it but another season has passed us by. I am just 13 so we went out every weekend possible. Actually the season continues untill Nov. 28 this Tuesday. But we have school may have to talk dad into letting us skip. But it always stinks, the 60 day season has passed so fast. We are just ending and I know some of you down south are just starting. Any way we ended the duck season with 52, which I know may not sound like a lot, but only going out on a Saturday with a 4 bird limit, that is our best ever. Goose hunting was very disappointing, we only shot like 12 as a group, but going out only on Sat and a lot of the time we goose hunt in the evening, which we have had better luck with. The limit here is only 2 during the regular season. We did hunt early season like 1, because there was only 1 field out and it was on the last week of early season. We have late season coming up, and that is fun, but it is short, and we only can go on the weekends, plus the geese that are left are super smart. We went out duck hunting yesterday and didnt get a thing. There was no wind, and it was partly sunny, so the ducks just flew up about 1000 feet and never came down. But we probably saw 1000 ducks.

Hey, you must be from Minnesota. I'm guessing from your description of the bag limits\seasons. We didn't hit the ducks very hard this year. It is dissapointing that the duck season is closing already, because we were hoping to get some in the fields. We concentrated more on field goose hunting this year. We did pretty well with that. We don't have as many birds down here as we did last year though, or at least that's what it seems like to me. How about where you are?

It sucks to say it, but the season for ducks has been over for many people in mn for a while, we have been getting at least 1 limit every time we have been out, but we have worked hard for em this year, late season should be better good luck

I'll be directing all my attention towards honkers now! sad to see the duck season go...

Overall I think MN benefited from the Dakotas being so dry. There are a lot of mallards around and a few honkers. The lack of weather has saved a lot of late season birds! Two days after the duck season closes we finally get a good cold snap so enough of that short stopping talk. With the cold temps look for late season geese to be hitting rivers and larger lakes as well as the traditional late season hot spots like Fergus Falls, Rochester, Fox Lake, Talcot, Fairmont and other lakes that have warm water pumped into them keeping them open.

We live in Fairmont and it has always been good late season hunting. And there are a lot of geese around. The problem is that like earlier they dont pattern as much around here. One day they'll be in a field and the next in one a mile away. But there is mild temps so they should stick around.
