Witht he MN season winding down I made one last push to get into some birds to top off the year. I found a couple hundred ducks on a lake and after some sweet talking got permission to hunt and island close to where they wanted to be. We got out and broke ice for a good ways and got to open water right where the island was. Where the ducks wanted to be was froze up so things worked out. We used around 110 duck decoys, and had good success decoying flocks of 3 to 50 mallards. Ended up with a three man limit of 11 mallards and one bonus drake redhead which was also my first of the species.
