hunted with my buddy from orange county this morning on long island south shore..the morning broke 20degree's with a stiff 30mph northwest wind gusting to 45mph..windchill was 2 degree's when we left the dock..
our original plan was to work on puddlers but the heavy winds made the long boat ride to my original scouted spot a bit dicey and to be safe i floated the idea to gregabout switching it up and going affter buffleheads..being he very rarely gets to do diver hunts in orange county he jumped on the idea and we headed for a point that i had seen buffies working all week..
we dropped the GHG buffleheads and Broadbill Decoys in a v formation off the point..we also put 4 GHG black ducks out for the heck of it.. and settled in..the first 45 mins of shooting time was slow..but the pace was acellerated when 4 buffies hit the back of the v..came right up the line and attemped to land right in the pocket..all four met thier match..the rest of the morning was pretty action packed with doubles and tripples...we even managed to bag two black ducks and goose as bonus..and by 930 had a 10 buffies 2 blacks and a goose on the strap..
greg and his flatcoat suzzie ( her first diverhunt too) with the birds..

again i have to give props to GHG on the bufflehead decoys..they are amazing!
