We have had two cold fronts move through this week and hopefully they brought the ducks. Our season just came back in after a week layoff. My brother said he saw a knot of about 1000 bluebills thursday while he was at work(he works for a seafood business right on the river here in Poquoson) and yesterday the Cans showed up. Dippers(buffies)have been everywhere but here. Maybe we'll get a litle action today. Hopefully I'll have a hunt worth taking Pics of. If so I'll update tonight. Good luck to all of you today also.

Got skunked fellas. Didn't get a decent shot all day. Saw plenty of Buffies but
not one came to the dekes. Last year They would decoy to a coke can but now they won't even look at the spread. I came home and called Mack's PW and I am gonna order a doz. Oversize buffies tomorrow. Hopefully that'll make the difference. Last year at this time I had already killed 30-40 dippers. I have only had 1 come to the dekes this year. Oh well, maybe next week. Thanks for hearing me whine I'll go drown in my sorrows now:( .

What kind of spread were you using when you got skunked?

GHG Bluebills
GHG Ringbills
GHG teal dekes that the paint came off of my dad painted up like buffies
some other dekes that we painted up like bluebills and buffies
The exact same spread we used last year.
We had all the diver dekes off shore
We had a pair of GHG Baldcrown(what we call widgeon)
a pair of GHG gadwalls and a pair of GHG hot buy mallards
and 4 GHG Goose floaters
The puddlers we had right up next to the island we were hunting off of
the tide was the lowest I have ever seen it
That might have had something to do with it
