Well I know that there are some black ducks that come through the upper Mississippi flyway, but was just wondering how many hunters out there have shot one in this region?
I was lucky enough to go back home in eastern IA fall of '05 to do some field hunting and we ended up shooting two black ducks that day. Here is a pic of mine to confirm.

i dont know how many come down the central but a good friend of mine has one on his wall that came out of kansas that was neck banded. I dont think i personally have ever seen or shot one. I really dont know though because earlier in my career i would have thought it was an immature mallard. Very nice looking duck you have though. Big time congrats. Its always cool to get a rare bird.

Well there has been way more then ussual this year here on PEI, so maybe they'll start heading your way in force soon. There pretty much the only ducks we get buck mallards are starting to spread out here now.

Im in southern ontario which is mississippi flyway. Got one last thursday and a few other birds as well,, get 3 or 4 blacks every year. One area we hunt its pretty much gauranteed youll get a chance at one every time there.

We used to shoot a lot of them in Western Michigan when I lived there. One of the most common ducks in our bag. I've only seen a couple since moving to central MN.

We would kill them every now and then in flooded timber off the Tennesee River.
