some jewlry from this evenings hunt . My first band ever and it was from NC the band read : NC waterfowl : www.NCWATERFOWL.org 0466 PRETTY NEAT!!!

Congrats on the first band....
I noticed on the NCWA web page though, that they are no longer collecting band information because of conflict....it says that on the bottom of their home page....
A bands a band though....Congrats!



here is the paragraph from their page:

Notice Regarding NCMRRP Banding Data:

After a complete review of released mallard regulations by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the only change recommended to the regulations is that people who release mallards no longer band them. With several hundred thousand banded mallards released each year in the Atlantic Flyway, the USFWS was concerned that all of these banded mallards in the population would reduce band return rates on USFWS bands. This information is needed by the USFWS to accurately determine survival rates of migratory mallards. NCWA is complying with this request and thus banding data will no longer be collected.
