A little background - I first met Paul this spring, as we both campaign dogs in UKC hunt tests. He came down to Louisburg to train with us at Stacey West's Fowl Creek Kennels. We discussed dogs, training, likes and dislikes as far as hunting was concerned and came to the conclusion that we both really like to get on geese and divers. We agreed that we needed to hunt and train sometime in the future.
Well, the future arrived in the days following Christmas, and after discussing opportunities here in NC and up in VA, it was decided that I would ride up to his house and we would give it a go. We got all our Avery gear at the ready, and hunted hard for two days and limits and a tired dog awaited us at the end of both. Regarding GHG products, all you diver fans are going to love the foam filled divers! Had a great time meeting his family and seeing a good bit of the VA countryside, and discussing theories on our general lack of birds in the SE as well as how we like to set up our spreads.
So I drove home, with the dog sleeping the whole way with a well-earned seat in the front of the truck instead of her regular kennel in the back, and thought about where we would go to get the drop on some birds here in NC.
