I am sure that people use FB dekes here in Ar but I have yet to see or talk to anybody that has tried them.

I was wondering if full body mallards would work in flooded rice fields. How deep can the water be? Would you mix them in with floaters or just the fb?

I am always trying to better my spread and thought this could be a good idea. BUT like I said, I hunt all over the state and have never seen them!!

Any info would be appreciated.

Man, I use them all the time. This is my decoy of choice for a rice or bean field. I use them in all depths, if it is too deep for the stakes, I will take some bamboo and stick the stake in the bamboo.

I will mix them with floaters and at times, the FB's are the only decoy I will use. I have used them the past two seasons and the results have been fantastic.

I use them in a flooded rice field in Arkansas as well. We mix them in with floaters and they look awesome. I think that they work and especially when the water shallow. If the water is too deep check out the "Raising the Stakes" article on the home page. www.averyoutdoors.com. This morning we used them in about 2 ft. of water with the extensions. They look awesome in a rice field and add some great movement too your spread.

Hope this helps!

I lease near Newport AR and we use the FB mallards and specs all the time. We like to put them along the levee around the pit(s).

Not sure about rice fields as I dont get to hunt them very often. But..they are awsome on the sand bars and shallow water around islands and such here on the Arkansas river.

I am another that uses them in rice and bean fields....no matter what the depth is. If it is too deep for the stakes, I use pvc pipe cut to the appropriate length and then insert the stake into the pvc pipe that is sunk into the flooded field. I use them in conjunction with floaters usually putting the fb's right in front of where I want the ducks to hit.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I need to pick up a couple dozen. I need some realism in my spread. Every single field around looks just like the one I hunt. That needs to change and the FBs sound like they will do the trick.

Thanks guys

They add a whole different dimension to your decoy spread. Your spread won't look like the other thousands of spreads in the area. This will give you a better edge over the other hunters. Lots of options with these decoys.
