has anyone used these on their older GHG decoys ?

http://www.mackspw.com/item.asp?im=AVE7119+24PK&d=GHG_RealMotion_Kits

I called Macks today and talked to a specialist and they told me the they mount by a screw but the screw comes out the top of the decoy ?
Is this true ? If it is it would seen to be a safety hazard so I am hoping it goes the other way. I am interested in getting some but I can't if the screw is pointing to the outside because my son helps me set out al the decoys.

ANyone have any experiece with them ?

THanks

You screw the cones into the body from the top, the screw head is what is left on the outside of the decoy. We converted 3 dozen FFD's from last year and they work great.

well that is what i was hoping and thinking but the Macks person told me it was the other way around Yikes

Thanks for the reply that's what I was hoping for

So do they act just like the original ones installed in the new decoys?

Does it tell you exact placement of the cone on the decoy so it balances correctly?

You have to find the balance point but it is very easy to do. A few of ours are a shade off the center and they still work just fine.

does this kit provide more movement that the universal motion stakes?

I have installed averys realmotion kit on my GHG and Bigfoot decoys and it provides great movement on both decoys. The GHG are easier to install since theres already a big hole in the buttom of the deke and they move better too but the foots do fine.
Find the balance point on the decoy, drill a small hole, and install the motion cone and you got movement ! :)

You will see more motion with the Motion Kit than you will with the UMS. They are simple to install, just find the balance point by balancing the decoy on a sharp object such as a field tip of an arrow, drill the hole and screw the cone in place.

The screw head is definitely what is on the outside of the boy. I will make sure the folks at Mack's know what's up...

Thanks for the heads up.

I just did 6 of my older hunter series and it worked great. As a side bonus having the foot bases off lets me get more decoys in less space. that means more FFD's for next year.:D

Yeah I was thinking the same thing :D
I did 6 of my pro series feeders a couple weeks ago & it only took about 1/2 an hour to do all of them.

They are very easy to install and they work great, just like the ones installed from the factory. I put them in 3 dozen old school FFD's in about 1.5 hours the other day. I found the easiest way to find the balance point is to use a awl, then just push it through the decoy to mark the spot to drill. Worked like a charm!

Do you get motion stakes or bases with this kit? It looks like in the photo you get bases, but the writing says stakes.

You will get the stakes in the kit.

As a side item for those of us up north here, you guys should offer the bases for sale. When it freezes up here the stakes become useless.

While the stakes might be useless in frozen ground, the ring stands work well well. I know that the stakes are sold separtely, maybe the ring stands could be sold separately as well?

The way things are going lately, the ground may not freeze during Dec. anymore..... :D

Ryan, you are correct. Where did all that early cold weather go?

I installed the kits on my GHG full body feeders. I had been using the Universal stakes before but saw the advantage of the glow in the dark head on the new system and not having to search for the hole in the decoy. I found on New Years eve that it was very difficult in the frozen ground. Just found some greens in the cornfield and the stakes went in with a little bit of extra effort and survived the issue. Warm weather in the North made me forget the need of a ground breaker. Expecting 50's on Saturday so it shouldn't be an issue.

I would purchase the motion stands also if they were only put on the market.
C'mon.....Give us what we ask you for. You can make some extra $$ from many on this forum..

I agree

although we are expecting 60 degree weather for the next two weeks and no migrating geese

I talked to the folks at Mack's regarding this and everything is straight. Sorry for any confusion.

While we're at it here begging, why not offer bags w/ a feeder pack or active pack as an option too, similar to the harvester packs?

I'm looking forward to it, I have 5 dozen motions stakes that I just don't use because it is too hard to match them up in the dark so I am looking forward to this product.

I have realmotion kits and bases on order for 3 dozen decoys from ebay. I'm getting the bases since the ground is fozen solid in Colorado much of the season.

I was planning on using the kits on my Avery GHG shells, but am wondering if I should rethink my plan and use them on my bigfeet full bodies instead. I'm not worried about not being able to stack the shells once the cones are installed - I have room for them in my trailer unstacked. Just wondering what everyone thinks about what will make the best decoys? Any problem with wind if I go with the shells? Whichever way I go, should I use the kits on feeders or lookers or a mixture of both?

Many thanks for any experience and/or advice.

I added the Avery RealMotion kits to my Greenhead Gear Oversized shells earlier this summer. They work great! They will not stack well with adding the kit to the shell. I carry mine in a couple Avery 6 Slot Decoy Bags. No problems other than stacking. Good luck. Let me know if I can help.

Glad to hear it's not a big deal to change them over. I've got an offseason project to convert 3 dozen of my own.
