On December 30, 2006, Avery Pro-Staffer Mark Hoke organized the third of five handicap hunts in Maryland. The Avery Purple Heart/Zink Handicap hunt was hosted on a farm owned by Buddy Klepper and his family in Centreville Maryland. The hunt took place in a cut corn field that had a cover crop of winter wheat. Buddy and his brother in law designed a specially designed “A” frame blind to allow for easy shooting for our guest from the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Even though the weather was less then perfect for goose hunting (60 degrees and no wind). We were still able to work the birds into the hole for quick and easy limits by all. After the hunt, we returned to the barn and enjoyed hot coffee and breakfast prepared by Avery Pro-Staffer Mark Hoke. It was truly a great morning that was enjoyed by all. More importantly, it was an honor to give a little something back to the people that protect our freedoms.
