Got the pleasure to hunt with a couple great guys in SoCal over the last week. I went to chase down some Cinnamon Teal and some nice drake Smilies for the wall, and even with the bad weather we got into the birds everyday. It is always great to get out somewhere different and see what they have to offer, especially when it is birds I can't take here at home. We had a great time and I can truly say these guys are diehards like so many of us. We took Cinnamon and Greenwing Teal, Shovelers, Gadwall, Canvasbacks, Bluebills, Ruddies, Moorhens, Buffs, and Hoods mostly all for the wall. Thanks again Kev for a great trip. Here are some of the highlights.

Very nice birds. Love the cinnamone teal and the rudy almost in plumage.

Shot a few close to that last year but not quite like that

That is as close to a trophy hunt I've ever seen in watefowling, it must have been rather enjoyable!

He was as close as I have ever seen in season. There were about 200-300 with him that didn't have an ounce of red on them. Needless to say we looked over every ruddy we saw trying to take another one. The bill was a pretty sweet to.

OH, it could have even been more of a trophy hunt Aaron. You should have seen the Leucistic Shoveler I missed in a flock of 1000 plus spoonies. I couldn't believe my eyes but an IC choke with small shot for teal, wasn't enough to reach him as he was higher than I normally would shoot at.

love the full plumage shovelers. Wish they looked like that here in Arkansas, I'd have on on the wall for sure.

That looks like a great time. You shot some beautiful birds, especially the cinnamon teal. I shot one my first year hunting and cleaned it not knowing how rare it was, especially in Saskatchewan. I found a pair this spring on a small slough but a pintail pair chased them off.
