With all of the recent rains that we have had in the past weeks and pits under water and the ducks not wanting to decoy to the pits that are not under water, we had to change things up to kill ducks here in Arkansas. We have been setting up on a treeline about 300 yards away from the pit and using 3 dozen mixed decoys that have proven to be the key to killing ducks. Yesterday was cloudy and cold with a Northeast wind, that was blowing in our face, but we did great killing our 5 man limit and 1 specklebelly.

Even this (BIG) unexpected guest showed up in Arkansas, which we don't get many of.

This hunt will probably be the best hunt that I was on of the 2006-2007 duck season. We killed our 20 Mallards, 5 Greenwings, 4 Ringnecks, 1 Shoveler, and 1 Speck. We didn't weigh the Canada, but he sure was a big Gander, his neck was as big as a baseball bat.

That a way, almost better when you have to adapt to kill 'em.

Great shooting, Stephen. Wish the water'd been shallow enough for the boys and we'd have been right in there with you! That's an incredible hunt for teh past weekend conditions! And ol' South Dakota is finally smiling!
