I here about more and more very year. They have to be breeding in the states, there are just too many otherwise. A great trophy to get if you can get in on them!

I would really love to add one of those to my list of waterfowl. That is a neat picture. Where did you happen to take that picture? in a park or where?

It's "Eurasian" wigeon
Many of the Eurasians you see now are actually hybrid (Eurasian X American) Very few "true" eurasians...We've had a few sightings here on the east coast!
BTW if I ever saw a field like that I'd probably have a stroke! We're lucky if we see a hand full of cotton tops all season!!!!!!
Great pic!!!!

It is a Widgeon that is Native to other parts of the world that "Accidently " make a wrong turn somewhere. They are more common in the Pacific Flyway as I believe they are comming down from Russia. I have heard that there is now a very small population among the American Widgeon nesting in North America, which are producing quite a few Hybrids. Here is one I was Lucky enough to take one a few years back here on the East Coast. For those who have seen these before , I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist.
