This saturday (1-27-07) will be my last duck hunt of the year. My dad is coming to hunt with me and bringing my dog that hasnt retrieved a bird in a couple of years, so I am real excited. But before the last hunt of the year, I did one on my own. Suprisingly there was still alot of ice on the lake but nothing that I couldnt manage to kill my 7 greenheads out of. It took a while but it was a fun day.

Looks like a great day. Sometimes the solo hunts are the funnest of even though it does get a little lonely if the action is slow.

You have posted some of the best looking pictures that i've seen in a very long time this year, it probably doesn't hurt that you are always shooting great looking birds. Way to stack em up this year good luck on your hunt with your dad.

Infact it took most of my day. I was very picky. After the first couple hours of shooting 4 drakes with 4 shots I ended up hitting my mid day slump or something because from then on out it was like every 4th or 5th duck I pulled up on I ended up wiffing. But theres those days where you can't hit a thing and theres those days where your rock solid. It took me until about 2 oclock. I sat and watched quite a few hens mess with me, ALOT of teal, and alot of pintail. It was tough passing up those pintail shots with a big bull sprig in my face but I wanted the greenheads. All in all it was a long successful day.

You are truly a Mallard drakes worst enemy, the mallards should be celebrating on January 28th !!!

Yeah that spinner is the best ive ever used. Its a custom made spinner from Aero Outdoors made out of their full curl mallard decoy cut into a shell. They stopped making the half shell but after getting numerous calls for them they decided it was necessary so they made me up one and now he sells them haha.
