First Pintail

Over the weekend I harvested my first pintail, during an awesome waterfowl hunt with some of my buddies. We were working about 30 birds, which were circling our decoy spread. We were all focused on this group of birds when suddenly another group of about 10 came in low, cupped up from our right. I quickly turned my attention to them. As they got closer to the water I noticed one of the birds in the group was a pintail. When I saw that drake pintail come floating down, I became excited and thought to myself that this bird is going home with me. I yelled "Take'em" and threw a bead on the pintail and fired, taking him down on the first shot. This was the first pintail any of use had every seen and capped out a great hunt. In all we shot 20 birds that day, but the pintail sticks out the most in my mine.

Congrats on a great looking duck, I shot my first pintail this season as well, although he didn't look nearly that good.

Of all the ones I have shot, only one was in nice full colours - he was still here in Nov couldn't believe it.

Just love bull sprigs in full plumage...
