Hen 'Surf Eider'???

We got this bird on the last day of the season.

Check out the white spot on her head. Kind of reminds me of a hen surf scoter.

You don't see that everyday.

i dont know about eiders but hen redheads get white on there hed with age.

Looks like an old bird to me, similar to what we see in redheads. It could also be caused from trauma when it was young.
