I was looking through some old pictures and found my first Canada Goose, actually the first time I ever pulled the trigger. I shot this goose on October 13, 1985, I was 10 yrs old and it was a H&R single shot 20 guage. I dropped the massive honker on the left (right hand)! Talk about some lessers!

We actually shot them in the fields off the road to Babcock in Hawkeye, they used to grow winter wheat in them. Back then there weren't many geese around. It was a big day for me because it was the first time I ever pulled the trigger on something that was alive, I still have the hull.

The boat in the background is now Chad Bildsteins boat, my dad sold it to him.

That is awesome Adam! Nice work. I wish I would have gotten started on the ducks and geese at that age.

Good Hunting!

I have a similar picture at Reelfoot lake in 1989 with my first goose. You have to look back at the camo and decoys at that time and wonder how we even killed anything, but it sure was fun.

Unreal. The snows still use those fields in the spring every now and then.

I used to watch the ducks in the spring there. I actually hunted those fields from a boat once in high water. We put the boat in from the little hill coming down from the turn off to babcock road, drove the boat down the road and hunted a high spot that was an island.

Ahhh..the good ol' Walls Blizzard-Prufs, in Green Camo. I can still smell the writ dye my uncle used to make them darker to hunt the stumps.
