Since you were the only one decent enough to say thanks for the almost 10 years of business that I've given Avery ... I just wanted to show you the Hex Bumper ad that I bought mine from.
http://www.gundogsupply.com/avery-hexabumpers-regular.html
Now will you also be gentleman enough to tell the Avery cheerleaders that there really is a difference between the flasher and the other two hex bumpers as far as the type and length of rope is concerned?
Sorry it took awhile to pull the pics to provide the evidence.

Jim,
Christian is at a show right now and may not be on the computer for a while. As far as rope lengths, there should be no significant difference, but since they are tied by hand they are subject to slight differences. Man that's an awkward sentence. If there is a substantial difference we need to find out why, and we appreciate you letting us know.
The rope itself is made from the same material, of the same thickness and using the same braid. The only real difference should be the use of black and white rather than just white in order to provide additional contrast. Just as in the length there should be no significant difference in the rope itself.
We appreciate you letting us know that the knots on your HexaBumpers came undone. If this turns out to be a common occurance it is something we have to correct, and our CS folks log any mention of this type of thing so that we can learn about trends to correct them as soon as possible.
I also appreciate you letting us know that you prefer longer ropes. This particular issue in my opinion comes down to personal preference, but it's important that we hear from a variety to folks to determine what the majority preference is. I've always cut ropes for my bumpers to be shorter than the bumper for a variety of reasons (many of which were listed in the earlier thread), and I was one of those who suggested the length we are using. We felt that this length would be preferred by most folks who purchase bumpers, but with enough input we certainly wouldn't close our eyes to possible change.
Thanks for your business.

Well I'll be durned. A professional and well thought through response post. I congratulate and thank you for that, Bill.
I've ordered additional hex bumpers in black, orange and white. When they arrive, I'll take close-ups, and with a tape measure adjacent to those, alongside the original three flashers I bought. The ropes of the flashers ARE shorter, ARE of another type of (inferior IMO) material, do NOT have the ends burned and the knots DO come undone from just throwing. Of course I can burn them, re-tie the knots and/or replace the ropes. I've done all three but shouldn't have had to. That was my point originally.
Going back to that topic I first posted about the problem: If you're above post had been made on the original topic it wouldn't have gotten so far out of line. I understand Justin's personal involvement in the design and therefore his resultant bias and inability to separate an impartial business judgement from his personal feelings ... that'll improve with maturity. However, the Avery employees and staffers who have created a HORRIBLE reputation for your company in the eyes of MANY waterfowlers all over the internet is just plain inexcuseable. Good thing I'm not on your Board of Directors.
You see, in many years of being CEO of a much larger business than Avery is today, I used to teach, among other things, that I was willing to lose an order but never wanted to lose a customer, especially because of rude and disrespectful behavior to them by my fellow managers and employees.
All you have to do is read the threads about Avery all over the internet, Bill. (And I know that you do). 95% of the complaints about your company are really NOT product ones. They are invariably about the combative attitudes and beligerence with which Avery "staffers" and many of your employees have become known for when a customer is attempting to resolve a relatively simple request for assistance and/or a replacement.
I've purchased defective or at least disappointing quality products from many sellers in my 65 years. What separates the good ones for the poor ones IMO isn't the number or nature of defects I've received from each as such .... it's the manner in which the buyer is talked to and treated by the seller when there is a problem that makes the real difference.
You know the old marketing adage: Make a customer happy and they tell nobody because they expect to be made happy ... after all that's what they paid for. Make them unhappy and they'll tell many others. Make them unhappy and then compound that by treating the customer with disrespect and contempt and they'll go out of their way to tell EVERYONE they know or can find. Today, with the internet, that can be a very damaging force.
Anyhow ... thanks for the positive response.

Jim,
I understand by your posts that you seem to be very proud of your history in business. Well, I'm not a business man at all....so forgive me for my ignorance, as I'm just a hunting guide and know every little about corporate America.
But, the maturity comment was rough. I had a number of folks forward the post to me, and I won't lie... it hurt my feelings a little bit, and most of them will have a good laugh over that post for the next 3 weeks.
I'm a simple fella and I believe there is a right way and a wrong way. Most folks are able to see it pretty clear. I don't know any fancey slogans like the ones you've mentioned above.
So, please take my apology for offending you. I was just a little shocked by the time spent on the delivery of that nformation.
I live in another world than you do. If I complained about everything that wasn't perfect in my life....I doubt I'd have time to do much else. But, I may be the exception? Again, please forgive me for my unkind remarks.
Thanks for showing me the weak points in the Hexabumpers. I'm certain Avery will move as swiftly as possible to correct the situation.
Best to you and your dogs,
JT

Justin, you must live in the same world as me...and I thought I was all alone! ;)
