My opinion is Dogtra is the best thing going. Take a look at the Dogtra 1700. Never used a Tri Tronics but have heard nothing but good.

I've nothing but success with tri-tronics. Their collars work great and they have great customer service. I've sent 10+ year old collars in and they've reconditioned them.
Good Luck with the dog

TriTronics, Dogtra and SportDOG all make good collars. I use SportDOG and have exclusively for over 3 years now. IMHO, they are a great value and have great Customer Service should you need it.

I use a Tritronics Sport (4 dog model). The range is short, only 1/2 mile, but all equipment is waterproof and the G2 Tritronics collars have a new type of battery that will not die out because of OVERCHARGING. This is HUGE. Just the ability to leave your collar on the charger, (or forget you've left it on :) ) and not have it KILL your battery is worth the price of the collar. I've been real happy with my TriTronics and would reccommend them. The Sport collars are reasonalby priced and do everything a waterfowler needs to do. I don't have experience using Dogtra, although I have heard good reports.

I've had great success with SportDOG. My SD-2000 has been on my dog since the day they became available at retail and I have not had a problem with it.
Like Cray said, SportDOG is a great value.

:D I'd have thought your dog would have had pressure necrosis by now....

OK, for the simple minded members of the board, my statement was figurative, not literal.
:D :D :D
Besides, even though the SD-2000 has awesome battery life, I have had to take it off the dog to charge it a few times in the last couple of years.

Take a look at the dogtra 1600NCP. I just got one a couple months back and have been really happy with it. Unlike some of the Tritronics, the remote is completly waterproof which is great for waterfowlers. I've been using mine pretty often for training and have not had to charge it up yet. Also, the remote is built and set up very well. It is lightweight and small in size.

I've been amazed by the battery life of my Dogtra. Good quality product. I would also not hesitat to recommend the Tritronics collars.

I love my dogtra as well. I have had it for 5 years now and it's still going strong. Two guys I hunt with run Tritronics and they have battery problems all the time with theirs. One of them went to a dogtra this last fall and the other is going to switch in the future as well.

I have had dogtra also for years and have had nothing but good luck with them i just picked up a 2 dog unit and love the way it works. I have also used the tritronic brand units the only problems i have had with this brand unit is the batt life is for the birds, they will last you maybe a year thats it.
