Building a pit

Can anyone give me some ideas on building a pit. I'm looking for different ways to build one, different materials..etc. Suggestions/photos

If you can find one, the June/July 2002 issuse of Wildfowl has an how to article on building an inexpensive pit.

I'm no expert but my preference has always been to have sliding doors rather than dura cover or grass or flip up lids.

If you hunt with a dog make it easy for him to get access into and out of the pit.
