I'm going to hopefully pick up a 6x10 enclosed trailer. It has the barn doors and a side door. I believe the brand is cargo mate but i'm not positive about that. My question is how much do you think it is worth? Its in excellent condition except for some rust from sitting outside. Also comes with 3 dz. GHG hunter series decoys and already has some flood lights and other things on it. The guy is asking $1600 which I think is a damn good price but others think that I can get one for cheaper(which I know I can't).

I would say that you've found a pretty good deal. The decoys are worth about 1/3 of the price of the trailer so if you take that into account that trailer is really only costing you about 1000.00 which without seeing the trailer seems like a good deal. If you're happy with the trailer, go for it! Oh and get some more GHG to fill it with!
Post some pics for all of us to see too!

Sounds like a fair price to me also. I know the 6x12 United trailers were going for $2850 (new) 2 years ago. I think the 6x10s were going for around $2650 at that time. I haven't priced them out recently, but I know if you try and buy them direct from the factory you can usually get a better price. A friend of mine picked up a 6x12 last summer for right around $2000 (new) direct from a factory in Indiana. You don't have to worry much about the rust. The frames rust up pretty quickly especially when they are driven down gravel roads a lot. If it were me, I'd check a couple things: the axle, and the wiring. The trailers most of us are using are typically built for road use. Goose hunters aren't exactly easy on these things. If it tows straight down the road, you're in good shape. Another big headache is the wiring. This can usually be fixed pretty easily, but can get annoying if the wires are damaged behind the walls. More than likely they work fine. I'd say check those things, and then go for it! And of course, fill it up with a lot more GHG decoys!

Around here you can't even touch a used 6x10 for under 1600-1700. That sounds like a very fair deal to me, as long as the rust is manageable. I would also look into what Ben said about wiring, any obvious damage, and check the axles. If they weren't greased regularly, you could have an issue.

That is a pretty good deal if you ask me. Ive been looking around for a trailer also and like Dave said, you wont find a used one here for that price, especially one that comes with decoys! Definitely check it over very well before you make the purchase and even see if he'll let you take it for a drive to make sure the axle isnt bent.

I wish I would have bought another one 2-3 years ago before the big steel hike. You won't find a good quality 6x12 for under $3000+ now.

Thanks for the replies. The guy is an electrician so all the wiring is ok to go. He even put the flexible tubing on the trailer lights so stubble will not rip it off. We figured we could repaint it with some rustoleum where needed, of put some diamond plate on it. Then I'm going to sell off all the Hunter Series and the ones I have and get about 6 dz. FFD!! I will take a look at the axle to make sure.

Well I'm going to go get her on Saturday! It is too good of a deal to pass up on. It has shelving in it but is being ripped out cuz I've got some good plans and the way its setup now, its a big waste of space. Thanks for the replies and I will prolly have 4 dz. GHG Hunter Series up for grabs after this weekend

I will have to see. I REALLY like the looks of the new F.A. HD fullbodies and want to see them in my hand first before I make my decision. If not I'll be going all FFD.

IDK!!! I really like their fullbody mallards and the new Honkers. I think GHG mallard fullbodies look like a blown up football. The HD Honkers remind me of a cheaper DSD and they are really appealing to me right now.

Well I went and picked it up yesterday. Its a lot bigger than I remembered!! I already tore all the old shelving out of it and my buddy and I are going to start building in it today! It came with 3 dz. GHG feeders also!!! Cant wait to get the trailer done we have alot of good ideas for it. We're going to get some 3/8" or 1/2" conduit and use the rod system for hanging them! I will get pics up sometime soon!

Well we decided to go with 3/4" conduit! The inside will be done this weekend and I will get some pics up. I'm going to repaint the fenders and around the doors with some black rustoleum(a little rust but I want it to look good!) I got insurance on it and all the decoys and blinds are going to be covered under the homeowners insurance (living with my parents cuz its cheap!!!). Anyways thanks for all the advice and the pics will hopefully be up this weekend!
