When I first got wind of these DU sponsored DUX events I was excited to say the least. I really enjoy getting out in the community to meet people that share the same passion for waterfowl as me. I knew this event was going to be a good one when I got the call from fellow Avery PS Greg Owens saying that they couldn’t jam another body into the venue of the event that he had worked a couple weeks earlier.
I checked the DU DUX website (http://www.ducksevents.org/MN/main.html) a week or so prior to when I was going to be there and noticed that it was already sold out. I knew that the waterfowling community of Minnesota was hardcore but this helped to solidify that the ducks truly have a good future ahead of them.
I made the necessary contacts with the event coordinators making sure they were taken care of and if there was anything that we could on our (Avery/GHG) part to make the event go on without a hitch. I was told that the people running the event had all things taken care of and that I was to show up around 2:00 p.m. to meet everyone and get settled for the masses to arrive.

March 3rd finally arrived and I set out towards Hutchinson, Minnesota and arrived there right around 2:00 and the parking lot was already half full. I walked in and couldn’t believe what I saw. Decoys were EVERYWHERE and needless to say I liked what I saw. 100 dozen GHG decoys and other related Avery products such as Fred Zink’s Finisher Blind, Avery blind bags, Avery Finisher Dog blinds, and countless other waterfowling accessories were laid out on assorted tables.

As I made my way around the tables getting a closer look at all the great gear that was available to win I met a lot of youth that frequent the Avery Message Boards and needless to say I know the sport of waterfowling has a bright future ahead from what I had seen.

The main prize of the night consisted of Fred Zink’s Finisher Blind, Avery blind bag, Avery gun shell holder, GHG OS Floaters, GHG Mallard Harvester Pack, GHG FFD Elites w/ six slots, and to top it off a Charles Daly Semi-Auto Shotgun. I knew whoever won this prize was going to pumped to say the least. I continued to walk around and see what else there was for the group to win and the people continued to pour in.
Overall, the night was great. I was asked a lot of questions about upcoming products as well as some of our existing product line offerings. I was thanked countless times on behalf of Avery Outdoors for sponsoring events like this because it gets more and more people out in the field with quality gear and it generates a lot of money for the birds that we all pursue.
I will also be attending the DU DUX event being held in St. Paul on March 28, 2007 with the event beginning at 5:30 p.m. For more information please follow the link above and we’ll see you there.
Share our sport and be safe in the field.
