Man being on a pro-staff is over rated. Do your own thing start your own style. Plus if they wanted you on any pro-staff you got to shine over other people. I mean everybody does everything and everybody kills a lot of birds and so on and so on, they heard it all. Let them find you and ask you. I mean that would be more gratifying, instead of baging. I'm not slam'n ya, I'm just saying. When i was on a "pro-staff" it wrecked me. Because you felt guilty if you use someone elses products when your on a pro-staff. It ties you down much like a girlfriend, I mean hey if you can get the milk for free why buy the cow? It's all or nothen for me. Good Luck

I would think becoming a wetlands biologist is a heck of a choice for a career. I doubt you're going to get rich becoming a biologist, but I'm sure the job would be very rewarding. Once you graduated you should be able to find a career with any of the several large environmental organizations or many of the state or federal government agencies. You would also be able to spend many days in the field, which I assume you would enjoy.
As far as getting on a Pro-Staff, I couldn't see why it would hurt your chances, but it really all depends on if a certain Pro-Staff is looking for anyone in the area you live. There is little pay in being a Pro-Staffer, most of us do it because we believe in a company and are willing to promote that company. I encourage you to go to events like waterfowl shows and meet the Pro-Staffers and let them get to meet you, this way they can see what you're made of and you can see what their made of. Being a Pro-Staffer is not about "I can kill this many on any given Sunday", it's about being a good, honest individual with morals that a company would be proud to say, "That guy/gal represents us".

You wouldn't even have to have a degree at all to get on a pro-staff. When companies choose pro-staffers they choose people they know will stay loyal to them because they believe in their product the most over everyone elses. They are looking for people who will represent their product well and promote it. The degree will definitely not hurt though that's for sure.

yeah i enjoy being in the field and everything but i just love tracking birds, watching, listening, taking pictures, everything..but then hunting is just the side really i would rather see the younger hunters enjoy what we have today as hunters..being a pro-staffer would just have another thing under my belt to put on an application for like a national position or state..the money isn't important its what you enjoy in life since you only live it once..

In my opinion becoming a pro staff member is not gonna help you get a job as a waterfowl biologist, it really has nothing to even do with the biology part you need to get a head start and get summer job working with the dnr or something in that category, the job out put for that right now is 30% nation wide so thats something to look at, you gotta realize how bad you wanna do it to and your probably gonna have to give up hunting a while for studying because you really need at least a 3.0 or better to even be considered a job position, I looked into it also and talked to some guys that do it and thats some of the things they told me but feel free to ask me any thing else you wanna know about it
