I am getting a new lab in a couple of weeks and I want to get a new collar. I can't decide between the tri-tronics and dogtra. Thoughts?

I have used Tri-Tronics products as long as I've owned dogs. A couple times I've tried other collars but nothing has compared to the consistancy of my Tri-Tronics collars. They have great customer support as well.

I cant speak for the Dogtra but I have a Tri-Tronics collar and I can say I have had absolutely zero problems with it.

I'd say to each there own, use whichever one you personally like the feel and features of. For me, it's Dogtra. Ruff wears his almost daily and spends pushing 175 days a year or better with one on in the field...conditions ranging from early season honkers, to brutal late season hunts. I started with the 1200NCP at the time it was the only one around with a waterproof collar AND transmitter. Lot's of folks have that now, but I recently picked up the 1500NCP. The collar design was a little different and the transmitter felt a pinch more streamlined.

When I got the new 1500NCP, I sent the 1200NCP back to Dogtra to get it refurbished once. I could not believe that after all the abuse that collar got put through by Ruff dog and being thrown on the floor of the truck all the time, that it even still worked. The customer service folks were good to work with and had my old collar back to me in short order.

Unfortunately, they just came out with the new 3500NCP Super X....this thing is packed with some incredible new features. You can check it out on their website, www.dogtra.com (http://www.dogtra.com) It's a more streamlined transmitter than most of the ones they've had with a one mile range. The new 'quick stimulation' features look great, and very handy. Looks like there will be another dog collar on the list of things to get before fall!!

I think there are several good brands out there with good quality. My buddy swears by Tri-Tronics and his collars have held up good and he's had good luck with customer service/repairs when needed. I myself have the same Dogtra 1200NC, that I purchased years ago and it's still working well, never been back for service.

Collars and their remotes are a lot like duck and goose calls, there are a lot of good products out there and it's really what fits you best from a feel/ease of use stand point.

I use Tri-Tronics and have been problem free. I use a collar almost daily in and out of water, and temps from mid 90's to -10. I have tried other companies and they were ok. I really like the Tri-Tronics.

I've had my Dogtra 1200 NC for two years now and its been bulletproof. I would buy Dogtra again in a heartbeat. I'm amazed at the battery life on this thing.

I use a Dogtra 1600 NCP and have nothing but good to say about it. The remote is waterproof which is very nice. It holds its charge for a long time. Also, the remote is small in size and very easy to operate.

I'm a tritronics guy. Have heard nothing but good reports about Dogtra. I think either brand will serve you well. They are the only 2 you should consider.

I also use Tri-Tronics.......a Sport 60S. I had some problems with it a few months ago. But thanks to great customer service....I had a new replacement unit in no time!

My brother uses a Dogtra unit and seems to be really happy with it.

I had a Tri-tronics Flyway Special for years and loved it. I traded it in on a Tri-tronics Classic 70 in the new G2 series. I wanted to take advantage of the smaller transmitter and the charging capabilities. Both collars have been great and dealing with Tri-tronics has been great as well. I would definitely recommend them.
