Here’s My Story.:)
After I was woken up at 430:eek: , and was done yelling at Aaron for waking me up so early, we headed out. We first stopped at one of the common spots and Aaron then did a owl hoot (which I was thought was supposed to be a turkey call) after not hearing a gobble we headed on. Once we arrived at the second spot, and heard a gobble we headed on through the bush, which involved dodging tree’s and jumping over electric fences, in boots that were 4 sizes to big for me.
We then found a place to sit down, leaning against the trees; I also must add that the leafy suit cover up was one of the most annoying things I’ve ever had to endure. Aaron then started to call, and after numerous amounts of gobbles which pretty much sounded like “gobble” with a “err” on it, the turkeys finally started coming in after about 15 minutes of silence. Did I mention that we had just got up to move when the came in? After that Aaron said “Get Down” as he brought his gun up, while he was still in a crouch. Then two Jakes walked/ran by the opening. Then finally the third one came in. Aaron took the shot, and from 40 meters he killed it. He then jumped up and ran over, unfortunately it was still alive and flapping like mad, but he then soon ended that. Aaron then gave me a hug and you could feel him shaking and his heart was going like mad.. Can you say adrenalin rush?
We then took pictures as shown below. It was a pretty fun hunt, all though I would have preferred a bed. I must add Aaron and Dad have been out 11 times and the first time I go out they kill one. I guess I really am a good luck charm.
Here is me with the turkey.
