We had the perfect location to run some traffic this morning, we set up in a field on a pretty good flight path. We had to roll some round bales of Oat straw out of the way to give us a good safe looking hole in middle of feild.
Set up 70 GHG full body Mallards and blacks and climbed into our Groundforce blinds.
After the hounding the ducks have had over opening weekend on ponds and waterways we thought the birds would be looking for a safe place to land and avoid getting shot at and an open field with a group of ducks in the centre should look like just the place.I used my resters and sleepers to give the impression of a safe haven not just a feeding spot.
The first flights of Mallards were very high, just specks in the sky but cupped up and decoyed something unbeleivable! we were expecting tough hunting so I had a 1/2 choke and lead 4s (legal in feilds) but were not expecting in our face wanting to land 15 yard shots. Tomorrow we will use open chokes and 5s maybe even pull the blinds back from decoys more as they were just to shot up when we cleaned them today
I have never had such good hunting before and the only thing that has changed is the use of GHG dekes and now using the low profile groundforce we are just plain dissapearing into the feild!
Our Limit is now 15 each and we had our 30 in 30 minutes this morning.
Tomorrow just cannot come quick enough!!!!!!
